Transitioning between spacies

I've brought this up in a couple of threads before, but I really want to find a solution to it as I want to be flexible with both spacies.

After I played Fox for a decent amount of time, I became accustomed to his fast movement and the like. I switched back to Falco expecting similar results, but I find it awkward to manuever him, mostly based around his slower movement and jump speed (particularly the jump speed).

Is there a way around this? What kind of mindset or pace do I have to adopt to be more in-tune with Falco?

with fox against spacies

its the mindset of dash dance and wait for opponent then throw out nairs and grabs and watching opponents techs and knowing what kind of get ups/techs the opponent can spotdodge immediately after. also knowing what kind of getups/techs the opponent cant spotdodge immediately eg. tech in place. almost all the time after hits your opponent will tech so you usually wait for it and most of the time u can punish it easily. ever tried upthrow upsmash, upsmash then ariel and watch them tech 90% of the time? lol also when opponents land on platforms that should almost be always a free hit if you time correctly or watch their techs and rolls.

if you really wanna get better at multiple characters. just keep playing the game, it's that simple lol.

Keep playing both characters, and try not to only play one for a long time and then expect the other to be good to go, you have to keep them both up.

The better I get, the more and more different Falco and Fox feel. Last night I was switching and I didn't even feel any familiarity with them because you have to make so many decisions differently. If they are feeling similar, you probably aren't making the best decisions, and you are instead settling equilibrium play style that works okay for both instead of two play styles that work great for each.

Yea, things like this make me wonder how viable the old Fox-Falco double main is in tournaments in the current metagame.

It's just as viable as any other main-secondary combination people use. I just don't think people should tack on Fox to their list of characters they can play well just because they play Falco (or vice versa). Outside of nair-shines, shine OoS, and edgeguarding with bairs, nothing can really be transferred from one to the other, and even those few instances have significant differences.

Something I noticed though, I think the transition of a Falco main - Fox is MUCH easier than Fox main to Falco IMO.

If your a Falco main, your just slightly slower with Fox. If your a Fox main Falco is SLOW AS BALLS can't shine oos, can't pillar cause you hit jump too fast.

picking up falco is like "uggh i gotta learn to laser well"
picking up fox is like "wow fox is a superhero version of my main"

Mostly this. The slower jump speed is what throws off my waveshine/pillaring and stuff. The movement speed I get used to, but the jump speed is the biggest wall.

Switching between the two is tough for me because their fighting styles are too different. IMO falco is more offensive with his shl approach. With Fox, at least to me, it seems like you depend almost too highly on waiting for your opponent. I have to say though that sometimes I get frustrated with falco being slow, switch to fox and I'm on steroids.
