Transition to Gamecube controller

I'm trying to make it right now and it's fairly difficult. I used to use a Wiimote and Nunchuk with tap jump on. The GC controller makes my right wrist hurt for some reason. Based on how many times I die because I flicked up on the joystick rather than pressing X to recover, I'm assuming muscle memory is an issue. One thing's for sure though, I'm finding that wavedashing is surprisingly harder to do than it was with the Wiichuk. No freakish left thumb rotations anymore.

So if anyone else went from a non-GC controller to a Gamecube controller, I'd love to hear your experiences. :)

I picked up the GC controller not long ago after years of playing with the solo wiimote, and I have to agree that wavedashing feels harder. I also have trouble getting used to grabbing with a single button, rather than using shield+attack since wiimotes have too few buttons. Otherwise the transition was pretty smooth, since the GC remote feels really good, although I still prefer using the wiimote with most characters.

Viewing this thread reminds me how I used to play smash, as I started off playing a lot of Brawl with Wiimote + nunchuk.
When I switched to GC controller soon afterwards, I started realising how much more comfortable it was compared with the wii controllers (no pain using GC controller). I starting picking up Advanced Techniques after the switch so maybe that's why I had an easier time adjusting. Muscle memory only affected my jumps during the switch, everything else was fine. The switch was well worth it, as I now control my characters a lot better, oh and the C-Stick is very useful for aerials.

I have also tried the Classic Controller Pro with this game, and I personally find it uncomfortable compared with GC controller, though It's probably better than the nunchuk wiimote combo.
