Third-Person Shooters or First-Person Shooters?
Which one do you prefer?

Big Name TPS titles
Gears of War
Resident Evil 5
Tomb Raider
Warhawk(on foot missions)
Mercenaries 2
Kane & Lynch: Dead Men/Hitman series

Big Name FPS titles
Halo
Call of Duty 4
Half Life/The Orange Box
Bioshock
F.E.A.R.
Battlefield 2

In my eyes, the TPS genre is much better, as Gears of War is the only thing that keeps me on Xbox Live to date. Resident Evil 4 is ****ing awesome and I'm sure Resident Evil 5 will deliver as well. Not only that, but I'm sure I'm not the only person in here hyped over going online with a friend in Mercenaries 2.

The Orange Box is pretty much as good as it gets when it comes to gaming though, but for me, it's the only FPS I bother with anymore. Half-Life is a thinking game, as there are some interesting concepts in the games(especially Portal). It also has an awesome community in Steam. I grew tired of Halo 3 fast and Call of Duty 4 was disappointing as well.

Third person is great because you can see your nicely detailed character, like you're watching a movie.

First person is great because you can feel like you're in the action, like you are in a movie.

I prefer first person games myself, as aiming always seems easier because I can see that yes, I do have my cursor directly over the other guy's face, while the zoomed out nature of third person games usually has me feeling "I think my cursor is over the other guy's face."

Third person games are becoming really popular though in the 360 and PS3, as developers want to show off their beautiful character models as much as they can.

It's not significant enough to make or break a game for me. The point is shooting stuff, not how I see me avatar while I shoot stuff. O_O
