Here are the loser's finals matches from a tourney last month- the one I ended up spitting 1st place. Bad quality, but that's the best we had there...

Anyways, I used MK round 1. I failed there, so I switched to Oli from then on.Throughout the matches I did so many stupid, stupid, stupid, recovery errors. I felt like an idiot. I don't have to point them out; they're pretty obvious. No johns though. They were my mistakes.
DanGR (Olimar) vs Who? (Snake) Round 2

After thoughts:
I failed soooooo hard at recovering this match. I thought I had my second jump at the end and didn't use upb in fear that it'd glitch up like it does sometimes. You know how that is. >_>
DanGR (Olimar) vs Who? (IC's) Round 3

After thoughts:
I didn't space very well and I was too impatient as well. I'm just glad that I didn't get grabbed very much- only once or twice. I got sooo angry at my second death.
DanGR (Olimar) vs Who? (Snake) Round 4

Thoughts: Nothin really. I was just glad I won. I learned not to use nair if he airdodged a short hopped upair; his uptilt is too good at punishing it.
DanGR (Olimar) vs Who? (Snake) Round 5

Thoughts: Pictochat? Did he really just pick that stage against Olimar? Whatever. I won. I didn't really care how I won. I just know I did, lol.

Winner's Semifinals
DanGR (Olimar) vs. Kismet2 (Falco)

Thoughts: :dizzy::ohwell::dizzy:

Critiques are welcomed and wanted. That's why I'm posting these.

Yes, I could use some more pivotgrabs. XD

Also, my matches with Kismet2 from my last tourney are up. He ***** me pretty hard. Honestly, I had no clue what I was doing. I'd like some harsh critique on those as well. :urg:

I'm gonna watch the others, but I just finished watching the Falco one you just posted.

First off, nice job ALMOST bringing it all the way back in that first game.

Falco is stressful because one slip up and it can result in a lot of pain. The way I get around the chain grab is doing a little thing I call "pseudo-camping." Basically, camp Falco like you would any other character, and let him reflect your little shits back at you. Once your damage reaches 30-40% or so, you don't have to worry about the chaingrab. But the better part is that you will have conditioned Falco to use his reflector, at which point you can literally run at him, SH to bait the reflector, and then grab.

If he isn't reflecting pikmin at you and you are worried about getting grabbed, chill on the platforms and let him hit you.

You were WAY too close to him the entire time. Just keep your distance, about just inside his sideB range. Try to predict it by running backwards just a little bit and charging an upsmash right before you think he might sideB. If predicted properly, he lands right in your lap. This particular falco didn't seem to sideB much tho...

well once i saw kismet i didn't think you were gonna win tbh lol

first thing i noticed: you used negrolimar

uhmmm i see a lot of pointless throws when he's in kill range. at that point use it sparingly because they stop caring about percent, only use with purples to set up kills if possible
he out mindgamed you a lot, you fell for his falco trickery D:
watch the fsmash, it is... stupid.... like ours....
basically "camp yourself" til about 30 or so so you can't be chaingrabbed, or stay in the middle of the stage to avoid getting spiked after it.
and uhh yeah. you can camp with utilt too when he approaches you w/o lazers

EDIT: lol @ me and rich telling you to camp yourself

So Cal Olimars know best ;)

Also, I forgot to mention, Utilt goes thru Falco's sideB. Good to mess up his recovery. For an added mindgame, hit him with it once or twice, and then the next time he is hit out far, spam Utilt on the ledge, and right when you think he is gonna sideB, grab the ledge. You'll probably gimp him because he thinks you are gonna just sit there and spam Utilts.

Wow I just realized I have some crazy good mindgames, like in general.

I only saw the falco match...You got CGed. Im pretty sure you can get away with it by jumping out of his Dthrow. (It works for me =/ , might be wrong tho ._.). Plus i believe you can spam fsmash off the ledge when falco is trying to recover with his side B.

Sooo basically, my problem is I need to camp more in the beginning to avoid getting CGed, avoid any sort of close combat, and read him better.

How do I avoid close combat against Falco and camp at the same time? If I camp too much, he'll approach me and back me up into a corner, which forces close combat. And if I don't camp much in the beginning, I'm in danger of getting CGed.

Also, I've got a question about Falco's dair->jab approach. Can I not shieldgrab that?

no, his jab comes out really fast and has good reach
best bet is to roll away or utilt the dair

Hmm, one thing I noticed in the Kismet vid was that every time you tried a dash throw you went through Falco and missed. Might wanna just grab normally or pivot grab IMO.

Yeah, that's a bad habit from playing other characters with average grab range. You're right, I should have just used standing grabs in those situations.

After reviewing the matches, I'm pretty sure I know what I could do better and differently for next time. Thanks for the tips.
