Forward: I don't want to start a debate, but i know there are groups, that would like to play brawl with items on. and i feel that ultimately the ones who will decide what the competitive rule set will be Are the TO's, so i would like to start some serious discussion on the viability of Items....

FFA Brawl items finals R5 - DSF vs. Lucky
This obviously doesn't demonstrate how all items are bad, but at the end of the match 4:40
D3 has the advantage, the camera is zoomed in on the action, and D3 has control, he combos marth back, and when the camera pans, it turns out a hot head had spawned, immediately D3 has lost the advantage, even though he made no errors. D3 then continues to pressure Marth, and knocks him of the stage, [EDIT:] actually the item knocks the D3 with advantage off, befor he gets ko'd by it[/Edit] he goes to recover after failing to KO marth, and the Hothead marth gained by pure luck spikes him... hot heads should be out. And I think it nicely frames the problems with other items, the player can be doing everything right, and still lose advantage due to items, I mean whats he supposed to do, control the camera?
I would argue that this demonstrates Why Hotheads should be Banned, in the narrow test item by item cases to determine what could possibly be viable. but as I stated above, I also think it demonstrates how items in general just aren't conducive to competitive play.

What do you think.
