I don't post here at Smash Boards very often (I lurk a lot though), so I hope this is in the right place. Had a quick question regarding the tournament ruleset as it pertains to rules about glitches. I know that things like Ness' YoYo glitch is allowed, but what happens when someone has found a new glitch? How does the ruleset adapt to that, and can a match/set be stopped or altered because someone has used a glitch that was previously unknown?
Some other Smashers and I recently found a character-specific glitch (Captain Falcon) that theoretically would improve tournament viability. We Google'd the hell out of it, checked here, checked several other Smash-centric sites for it, but have yet to find anything describing what we found. So we are wondering if we went to a tournament and used this glitch if it would be fair game or if some sort of penalty would be invoked or something. It's not a game-breaking glitch by any means, of course. It's similar to Ness' YoYo glitch in the sense that it gives the character another tool but it's nothing guaranteed to result in a KO or anything. The difference is, it doesn't require nearly the set up and for the most part can be used repeatedly - though we're still figuring out how.
Any feedback's appreciated!
