So I went to a tournament today, and did badly...again.

It's really starting to piss me off, every tournament I've been to I can't get out of round 3 or 4 and it's so aggravating because I feel like I'm not playing up to my full potential AT ALL sometimes.. Today I was wrecking a kid in friendlies and lost to him BARELY when the tournament came around. It's not that he was sandbagging(at least I don't think), I could actually feel myself effected by the knowledge that it was a tournament match.

I also feel like that if I had applied my talent to ANOTHER character aside from Ice Climbers that I'd be much better than I am right now because of how tricky they are. I mean, I'm getting better at the CGs(can land a reliable 40-90 damage one out of every 2 or 3 grabs), but that isn't good enough.

It doesn't help that local players like Darc, Dazwa, Fatal and others just seem to be at a level so unattainable by me as well.

I'm basically questioning switching mains, staying with ICs and trying to improve, or abandoning the game altogether. I've just lost hope I guess.

I've been to two tournaments in my life. Didn't get far in either one of them. Here's what I'd do, just relax, calm down, and try again next time. Don't take it too seriously, just try to have fun while you're there rather than focusing on winning.

I've only been to one tourney, and I got twenty fifth out of ninety-nine. I did well because I have the character I'm going to stick with, and that's Wolf.

You just need to find that character. Play with all the characters, and no matter what, whoever flows perfectly through you is the character to use. At least, that's how I knew to pick Wolf. He's awesome.

It happens, I wish there was something to just kick us out of it, because I got the same problem, but I'm hoping if I just keep entering and playing I'll play my best in tourney eventually.

besides my very first tourney in SSBM, where there were lots of newbs, i'm in the same mode as you. never gone beyond 2 wins, SDing myself somehow the match.

my advice: stick w/ICs, youll soon do well w/CGs and get a good secondary. DK sounds good for you since you love bairing, dont know if it covers ICs bad match ups. Bleh just pick some one from top tier, aside from snake and metaknight
