Tournament Mode - How do you use it?

My friends and I are trying to play the tournament mode in Project M, and we don't really understand how it works. We kinda just want it to be set up like: whoever wins stays in (the overall tournament), the loser is out (of the tournament), but new people play the next match, but instead it just seems to go on forever.

Maybe that's just how the tournament mode is designed, to go on forever. We literally don't know. We're new at this. Is it possible to play the way I'm describing or would be just basically have to manually do it?

When you enter Tournament mode, does the announcer say "Rotation!"? If so, that's what it is. Subspace Emissary goes to Training for the same reason-- an intentional design decision done to avoid glitches, if memory serves.

If I could remember where I read it, I could tell you if they were planning on fixing it or not...
