Waluigi (
Mario Tennis, N64)
Waluigi is a
Mario series character, so far only seen in Mario spin-off games. He is Luigi's evil counterpart and alter-ego, in the same way that Wario is Mario's alter-ego. He is related to Wario in some way and is one of Wario's few friends (not counting the WarioWare Inc. characters). He first appeared in Mario Tennis on the Nintendo 64. He was created by Camelot's Fumihide Aoki and is voiced by Charles Martinet. The name "Waluigi" is a portmanteau of "Luigi" and the Japanese adjective warui warui (悪い, warui) meaning "bad"; hence, "bad Luigi".
Waluigi is sneakier then sneaky, and prone to dancing and flashing poses. He also acts very rude and arrogant, not just to Luigi, but to pretty much everyone, soit would be safe tosay that he, unlike Wario who acts outof greed, acts mean to others just for personal gratification. Also note that while the relationship between Wario and Waluigi isn't clear, they are indeed borhters. Waluigi also has many connections to Foreman Spike from
Wrecking Crew, that being eggplants are Waluigi's favorite food (Eggplant Men), Waluigi drives the Gold Mantis, a construction site crane, in
Mario Kart DS, and Waluigi's song in
Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix is called "Destruction Dance", which was a remix of the bonus game tune from
Wrecking Crew.
9.
Black Mage (
Final Fantasy)
((Vivi Ornitier, one of the most popular and well-known Black Mages in
the Final Fantasy series))
The
Black Mage (黒魔道士; kuromadōshi, or くろまどうし in earlier games without kanji support) is a character class (or job) in Square Enix's Final Fantasy series of computer role-playing games. It is occasionally referred to as the Wizard or Black Wizard, although this is sometimes a separate upgrade of the class. They are usually depicted wearing distinctive costumes consisting of a blue or black robe and a large conical, wide-brimmed hat which obscures their face, with two yellow eyes shining from within the shadow. Some Black Mages also wear trousers with vertical stripes.
In contrast to a White Mage, a Black Mage has the ability to cast offensive magic spells. Often elemental-based, these spells may also cause status changing ailments to the enemy. Spells range from Fire, Ice, and Thunder, to more destructive spells such as Meteor or Flare, to darker spells such as Death and Doom.
Black Mages have appeared in
Final Fantasies I, II, III, IV, V, IX, X and
X-2, XI, Tactics, and
Tactics Advance, as well as in
Chrono Trigger and
Tales of Phantasia. The Black Mage has also made an impact on popular culture, making cameo appeares in games such as
The Legend of Zelda and Anime such as
Digimon. A character based on the Black Mage is also one of the main characters in a webcomic known as
8-Bit Theater.
8.
Stafy (
Densetsu No Stafy/Legend of Stafy/Legendary Stafy)
Stafy (スタフィー) (also spelled Stafi, Starfi, or Starfy; see name controversy) is the hero and player character in the
Densetsu no Stafy (伝説のスタフィー) series of video games from Nintendo. He is 7 years old and is 36cm (14.2in; 1ft, 2.2in) tall. He also has a sister named Stapy.
Stafy is also good friends with Kyorosuke, a clam, and often plays with him.
Stafy is relatively easy-going, friendly character to get along with; another similarity to Kirby.
Stafy, in actuality, might be a star, not a starfish. He, along with his family, live up in the clouds, which is where one would most likely find a star. When he fell into sea, everyone just assumed he was a starfish because of his shape.
Stafy is usually at the receiving end of much physical humor that is seen throughout his games. For example, in
Densetsu no Stafy 3, he, at one point gets buried alive by debris, and the player controls Stapy to try and dig him out. Both Stapy and Kyorosuke cry because they're worried about Stafy. once all the debris is cleared, it was revealed that Stafy was sound asleep the whole time!
Stafy can speak, but is often portrayed as being able to say "Fee!" in the television commercials. He doesn't speak in the game, but he does in the official
Densetsu No Stafy manga series.
Stafy also makes cameo appearences in
Mario games such as
Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga and
Super Princess Peach.
7. Missingno. (
Pokemon Red and
Blue)
Missingno. (けつばん, Ketsuban) (alternately
’M or a sequence of garbage characters), is a glitch found in the
Pokémon Red and
Blue Game Boy games. Missingno. is an abbreviation of "missing number" (its Japanese name, Ketsuban, also means "missing number"). Missingno. can appear when exploiting a glitch in
Pokémon Red or
Blue; as such, the glitch is often referred to as the Missingno glitch. They can also be forced to appear with the Mew glitch.
After speaking to the man who teaches players how to catch Pokémon in Viridian City, fly straight to Cinnabar Island and surf along the strip of half-ground, half-water beside the Cinnabar gym. Once the glitch is activated, the player can encounter glitched Pokémon in that strip, including Pokémon with a level higher than the usual maximum of 100, glitched characters such as the unfightable ghost from Lavender Town's Pokémon tower, or other non-Pokémon sprites, or "Missingno." and "’M". Missingno., however, may only be found in one spot on the coast near the Pokemon Center.
Encountering or capturing Missingno. or ’M can cause strange behavior, ranging from strange glitches in a player's Hall of Fame listing to the deletion of all a player's stored Pokémon. One consistent result is that the quantity of the sixth item in the player's inventory is increased by 128, if the player already has less than 128 of that sixth item. Trying to transfer Missingno. or ’M to another game, such as Pokémon Yellow or Pokémon Stadium often also produces similar inconsistent errors. Moving Missingno. or ’M to another location on the game cart using Pokémon Stadium 2 will cause them to permanently change to Ditto. Feeding a Rare Candy to ’M will cause it to evolve into a Kangaskhan.
6. Baby Mario Bros. (
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island)
Baby Mario and
Baby Luigi are the baby forms of the Mario Bros., Mario and Luigi. While both Baby Mario and Baby Luigi premiered in the same game thogether (
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island), baby Mario has appeared in more more games then Baby Luigi, acting as an extra character in spin-offs such as Mario Tennis. However, starting with
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Baby Luigi began appearing in more games alongside Baby Mario, and therefore, usually paired up as a team.
Where the babies lack in power (they are just babies, after all), they much up for in speed and teamwork. As shown in
Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time, they can be quite formatable together, being able to take care of a few enemies on their own! As far as special powers and techniques go, they were able to use a gigantic Chain Chomp in
Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and pound away with hammers in
Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time.
5. Geno (
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars)
Geno is the doll belonging to Gaz, the Rose Town innkeeper's son in
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. A Star agent sent by a higher authority to recover the seven Star Pieces inhabits this doll, and since his true name is rather "hard to pronounce" (as it consists in the game of the various decorative symbols:
♪!?), he is called Geno, after the doll. After wandering into the Forest Maze in search of a Star Piece, Geno meets up with Mario and Mallow as they battle Bowyer.
Throughout the game, Geno offers advice to the party, as a mystical sage-type figure. Geno's attacks are part magic and part projectile; his regular attacks shoot various bullets and even rocket-powered fists from his arms, and his special attacks tend to involve beams of light shot from a cannon. He can be the fastest character, having a speed of 30. Of particular note is his "Geno Whirl" attack, which, if properly timed, can produce 9,999 points of damage to enemies, making it the most powerful move in the game. Unfortunately, it does not work on bosses (except Yaridovich clones and Exor). At the end of the game, Geno returns to the repaired Star Road, reverting back to his original form.
Although Geno is currently owned by Square Enix., he makes a cameo appearance in
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga as an instructional aid at the Little Fungitown casino minigame. Here, the sound of his speech is very robotic. As of then, Geno is a registered trademark of Square Enix (developer of SMRPG, while it was still Square).
4. Toad (
Super Mario Bros.)
Toad (キノピオ, Kinopio) is a humanoid mushroom in games of the
Mario series. Toad is the general collective name of the "Mushroom People" found in the Mushroom Kingdom, who are a sapient, anthropomorphic mushroom race, with a peaceful, human following monarchistic culture. It is believed that the English name originated from the word "toadstool" (just as the original Japanese name comes from kinoko, meaning "mushroom"), though the English name may also be construed as a variant of the word "toady," a loyal follower. Like other characters in the
Mario games such as Yoshi, Toad is both a unique character called "Toad" and a specimen of an entire, homonymous race. The Toad species first appeared in Super Mario Bros., in which they were called merely "Mushroom Retainers". In later games prior to Paper Mario, which featured an entire race of Toads inhabiting Toad Town, the capital of the Mushroom Kingdom, manuals referred to them as "Mushroom People".
Toad appears in
Super Smash Bros. Melee as Peach's B-Button move, as a trohpy, and on the Mushroom Kingdom Adventure Stage. He tied with Wario as one of the most wanted characters in
Nintendo Power's polls, so he just might make it. What kind of moves we'll see from him is currently unknown, but odds are, he will probablyuse some moves in games he has starred in, such as
Super Mario Bros. 2 and
Wario's Woods.
3. Bowser Jr./Shadow Mario (
Super Mario Sunshine)
Bowser Jr. is the 8th child of King Bowser after the 7 Koopa Kids, bearing the most resemblance to Bowser out of all of them. He is ultimately the main antagonist of both
Super Mario Sunshine (in which he made his debut) and
New Super Mario Bros., with his father only playing a minor role in each. In Sunshine, he uses an alter ego known as
Shadow Mario to frame Mario for vandalizing Isle Delfino using his magical brush made by Professor E. Gadd. He is the eighth Koopaling and son of Bowser. He has since then appeared in
Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour,
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!,
Mario Power Tennis, and
Mario Superstar Baseball, the first of which inexplicably features his alter ego, Shadow Mario, as well. Starting with Mario Superstar Baseball, Bowser Jr. has been portrayed as a left-handed player. He is also the main antagonist in
New Super Mario Brothers, with his more famous father in a secondary role.
Bowser Jr., himself, is built like his father, strong. Even for a little guy, he backs quite a punch! He is also very agile, displaying moves similar to that of a ninja. Plus he is able to use his magic paintbrush to create blobs of paint toslow downhis enemies and, if necessary, transform into Shadow Mario. Shadow mario, basically, has the same moves and abilities as Mario, namely jumping around. The notable differences between Mario and Shadow Mario is that Shadow Mario takes a dark, liquid-like form, has glowing red eyes, and an outrageously long tounge!
2. Wolf O' Donnell (
Star Fox 64)
Wolf O'Donnell, sometimes called
Lord O'Donnell, is the leader of Star Wolf, and rival of Fox from the
Star Fox series.
Fox and Wolf were rivals sometime before
Star Fox 64 took place. When Wolf's team was hired to take down Star Fox, Wolf wanted nothing but to fulfill Andross's orders and to kill Fox. The Star Wolf team ultimately failed their mission, causing Wolf to seek revenge for his own personal reasons.
Years later, in
Star Fox: Assault, Wolf plans on taking down the Star Fox team once more, but the later invasion of the Aparoids brings out a new meaning to Wolf's plans. When Fox was ambushed by Aparoids on top of the Persimmon's Building in Corneria City, Wolf flew in to his rescue. However, he claims the only reason he did so was to kill Fox off himself later. It was at this point that Wolf told Fox "Don't hesitate. When the time comes, just act.", which got Fox through some later internal struggles. Fans can't decide if Wolf is a villain, or just an anti-hero, because in some stories in Star Fox Command, he and his team help Star Fox, even though Wolf still wants to kill Fox.
Wolf and his team were thought to be killed in the explosion of the Aparoid Homeworld, but were revealed to have survived in
Star Fox Command, still with a bounty on their heads sometime later. Several things happen depending on the route, Fox even hires Wolf to help him in one story.
Wolf makes a minor cameo in Super Smash Bros. Melee in the introduction sequence, where he is briefly shown fighting Fox from his Wolfen. Believe it or not, he is very popular, and many wish to see him in
Super Smash Bros. Brawl. As far as skills and ablilities, he is able to rival Fox in completely in air combat. It is unknown how he fights on land and/or hand-to-hand.
And last, but most certainly not least! The most wanted Character from
Super Smash Bros. Brawl is...........
Sonic the Hedgehog! (
Sonic the Hedgehog,
Sega Mega Drive/Sega Genisis)
Sonic the Hedgehog (ソニック・ザ・ヘッジホッグ, Sonikku za Hejjihoggu) is the protagonist of a series of video games released by Sega, as well as numerous spin-off comics, cartoons and books. The first game in the franchise was released on June 23, 1991 in order to provide Sega with a mascot to rival Nintendo's flagship character Mario. Since then, Sonic has become one of the world's best-known video game characters, with his series having sold over 44 million copies.
Artist Naoto Ōshima, designer Hirokazu Yasuhara and programmer Yuji Naka are generally credited with the creation of the character, a blue anthropomorphic hedgehog, whose ability to run faster than the speed of sound is a major part of the gameplay of the series. He is 15 years old, and is about 100 centimeters (3 ft 3 in) tall and weighs 35 kilograms (77 lb).
Sonic has been described as being "like the wind", and is noted for being free-spirited and adventurous. He enjoys relaxation, but is never one to rest in the face of injustice. He is extremely benevolent, and willingly puts himself at risk to help others, taking on any challenge that confronts him without hesitation. He shows that it takes determination and faith to overcome a problem. He is never the one to back down from a fight, he always puts others before himself. Sonic is an all around, fun-loving kind of hedgehog, and is very impatient. He displays an interest in rock music. Some official character art and a television commercial for
Sonic Adventure suggests that he has a personal hobby as a DJ. Furthermore, it is displayed in
Sonic Rush for the Nintendo DS that Sonic also enjoys breakdancing as it is one of his primary ways for filling up his Tension gauge. His battle moves in
Sonic Battle are also based on breakdancing, as mentioned in the attack descriptions. Lastly, he breakdances in
Sonic Advance 3 if he finishes a level in a short enough time.
As far as alilities go, next to his incredible speed, Sonic can preform excellent manuveurs in the air, including his Homing Attack and insta-sheild moves. In addition, he also has the ablility to harness the power of the mystical Chaos Emeralds and transform into Super Sonic, an invincible form powered by rings. Sonic can also preform other moves with the chaos Emeralds, such as Chaos Control, but usually prefers not to.
It was once rumored that Sonic & Tails were unlockable characters in
Super Smash Bros. Melee by clearing Cruel Melee. This turned out to be a hoax when the cheat was entered. In August 2006 however it was confirmed that Sonic was the most requested third-party character to appear in its sequel
Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Around the same period of time, Tips & Tricks reported that Nintendo has already contacted Sega and Yuji Naka, but Nintendo are still waiting for a final decision. In the October 2006 issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, Shigeru Miyamoto stated that Sonic would be a perfect character for
Brawl.
