With the 3DS version coming out in a week, I really cannot decide if I want to buy it or not. Originally I was planning on buying both versions, but after playing the demo I just don't really like the feel of playing it on a 3DS. The Wii U version is only about a month away(i think) and $40 is a lot to pay for a game I won't play for very long.

However, the 3DS version does have some things that I am very interested in trying. There are some unique stages I'd like to try like the Rainbow Road one. I also want to try out Smash Run because I used to play City Trial in Kirby Air Ride all the time.

So what do you guys think, is it worth it to get the 3DS version?

I'm only getting the 3DS version as I only have a 3DS. I'd suggest getting the Wii U version if you don't feel like playing the 3DS one.

Also for the title I think it should be "To buy or not to buy" rather than "To not or not to buy.

3DS only ATM, if I get a Wii U in Xmas or my b-day I won't doubt any second to buy Wii U version.

Seriously though, I AM getting both. They both have their perks, and in buying both, I'll be helping sales for both games and showing my support to Nintendo the best way I can. Hell, I'm getting two copies of the 3DS version, one for me and one for my partner. So we're certainly showing our support :p

It's very possible that SSB WiiU might become the standard for SSB4.

However, there are definitively going to be more copies of SSB 3DS than SSB WiiU among us.

I, myself, plan on getting the 3DS version only because I do not own a WiiU. It's certain that SSB 3DS will continue to grow even after SSB WiiU's release.

Being a Wii U and 3DS owner I'm obviously getting both. Also really hoping Smash 4 will drive the Wii U's [console] sales up by quite a bit.

I'll be getting both since I have both a Wii U and a 3DS, and I want both versions.

Both, without a doubt. I don't even need special unlockable bonuses between the two to justify the purchase

Both without question. Remember the days you couldn't Smash since you're on a trip or something and have no access to a N64/GCN/Wii(U)? This is a really good answer to it. Not the best for some people, but a good solution for now.

I already paid off my 3DS copy, and I'll own the Wii U version eventually but not right away. I still don't have a Wii U yet, after all.

I'm most likely getting both. If you value being able to take Smash on the go or like the exclusive content (stages, possibly Smash Run) and you already have a 3DS, I'd say go for it. I think the Wii U version will be the "standard," but I personally love being able to take games almost anywhere.

I always had my console on hand when I went on a trip. :troll:

As for the original post, if you are interested in the exclusive modes and stages, the 3DS version is worth the purchase. Perhaps not a $40; however, the game's price will drop to $30 soon enough, probably even $25 if you put it off for a couple of years. I honestly do not believe that it is worth it myself, albeit, I am not interested in the exclusive stages or Smash Run. I am just going to play the Omega variants of each stage and try out Smash Run to see if it is as boring as it looks.

I personally am buying it, although now I'm going to have to purchase it later, (probably a month after) at least I'll be able to get it. Just sucks I'm getting it so late. I don't own a Wii U either so yeah, no chance on that version.

Obviously, I'm getting both versions. I already have the 3DS version preordered and I'll wait until they reveal the release date for the Wii U version before deciding on preordering it.

I'm planning to get both, but I think I might be able to get the Wii U and the Wii U smash version by January or February, so I am ages(yes ages) late from release.
