I urge anyone who has a copy of the game to try something I noticed in a demo video and outlined in this thread in the Yoshi forums:
http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=130447
In short, in the video I and many are convinced we saw Yoshi air dodge immediately as he started his second jump, which ended up sending him down, effectively making him Double Jump Cancel with his Air Dodge! He was much too high to have just landed from his double jump's initial fall before going up (you can see that later when he double jumps toward the Starman; the starting dip is way too small), and we could swear Yoshi is in his air dodge pose as he falls.
So what I ask for people with the game to do is: pick Yoshi and go to practice mode or something and at the height of your first jump, do your second jump and try air dodging IMMEDIATELY as you start the jump. Take note of what happens, and try many times. Does Yoshi ever, instead of going up while air dodging, just air dodge toward the floor? If so, then this might be a potential advanced technique to explore. If you can accomplish it with Yoshi, I would also suggest trying with characters such as Ness.
Anyone who tries, please post your results in this thread, and if possible upload a vid on youtube or something so everyone can see. Thank you, and let's get to the bottom of this!
