ok so here's my idea short and simple: i want a few TMs as items in smash. it is an amazingly simple choice as a new item to represent pokemon. this thread is to discuss first of all if we think this would be a good addition, then we move to which ones we want and how they would behave. i think having just "TMs" as an item choice, then having one of several randomly appear would be the way to go for proper diversity
i for one want overheat, ice beam, solar beam, sludge bomb, and FLY!!! (eh maybe)

How do the TM's work? Do you hold them and use them like a normal item?
Do they replace one of your special moves (say you Mario picks up Ice Beam, Fireball becomes ice beam for two uses)?

i was thinking it would either be instant activation upon picking it up, or just press the button again for use. i'm not sure which or possibly another option would work best though

How about upon picking it up, your neutral special move would be replaced with the new move and the item would be used. You'd have that new move until either you taunt (think how Kirby removes his copy abilities) or it gets beaten out of you (think dragoon parts).

As for what moves each would have
I think there should be ten distinct TMs, each easily identifiable by color.

Red: Flame Thrower - behaves like a longer-ranged fire flower.
Orange: Focus Blast - a chargeable energy blast that can do massive amounts of damage, if charged enough.
Yellow: Thunder Bolt - behaves sort of like Pikachu's thunder jolt, but with an effect similar to ZSS's Paralyzer.
Green: Bullet Seed - shoots little seeds sort of like a scope gun but with more ammo and no charging.
Blue: Bubble Beam - shoots a flurry of bubbles and foam, that can trap foes inside giant bubbles.
Cyan: Ice Beam - shoots a beam - sort of like R.O.B's laser - that will freeze opponents. It has cooldown between shots.
Purple: Toxic - shoots a short-range needle that badly poisons opponents.
Pink: Teleport - behaves like Zelda's teleportation move.
Brown: Earthquake - tremors the ground underneath them, burying any opponent in proximity to the player.
Gray: Swords Dance - a flurry of slashes is released, behaves like a more powerful and longer version of Meta Knight's jab move.

I think this lineup is good because it encompasses a variety of types. I tried to make them all able to work for any character by making most of them projectiles or visual effects. Please share your own ideas!

This is a brillaint idea. I think, to make them different from other items and to kinda be like how TMs use to be, they should be one-time-use-only items.

My ideas for TMs, PixelPasta style:

Red (Flame Charge): The user charges forward, dealing damage.
Orange (Strength): The user poses with a strong arm, and if the opponent attacks the user at the time, the user will kick the attacker.
Yellow (Thunderbolt): The user shoots a bolt of lightning upwards that can be used as a tether recovery.
Green (Energy Ball): The user charges a ball of energy that acts like Lucario's Aura Sphere.
Blue (Surf): The user sends a wall of water at the opponent.
Cyan (Aerial Ace): The user flies upwards. A generic recovery move.
Purple (Toxic): The user shoots a bubble that flies upwards. Anyone who touches it gets poisoned, a new form of damage over time.
Pink (Light Screen): The user creates a shield that reflect projectiles.
Brown (Dig): The user spins downwards, but gets hurt if he Uses it on the ground.
Grey (Flash): The user lets loose a flash of light that deals no damage but stuns enemies.

Those ideas are awesome too!

Clearly there is a lot of potential for this item.

Actually, I think that Disarming Voice will be her new FS. It's a singing attack... that's Fairy-type!

Sorry for being a nerd but:
Magikarp
Unown
Wobbuffet
Ditto
Caterpie
Metapod
Weedle
Kakuna
can't learn Toxic. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Yeah but almost every Pokémon can learn it. These Pokémon that can't learn Toxic are either super-weak Pokémon or Pokémon with some sort of gimmick.
