I recently switched from Falco, to Fox. I can do all of the basic stuff. Which makes me AVERAGE. No one likes to be average, so I need your help and tips on becoming better.

I really need help on waveshining. That's my biggest problem. I've only done it once, possibly twice, against a CPU. I have no real people to play with, so I don't know if I can get much better. But any advice would help.

Edit: I live in So Cal, so if anyone lives near there, please post the city where you live, and I'll try to come to any tourneys if possible.

Edit: Just thought I should mention that when I go for the second wavedash, I usually do a jump. Why is that happening?

Waveshining is hard. I struggle to do it consistantly... but that doesn't stop me being the best Fox in my area.

When doing a waveshine combo, it's ok to step once to get closer to the enemy after wavedash, i think (correct me if i'm wrong).

You need real opponents.

Hmm I know your problem! In former times I was never able to do more than 2waveshines. You need human opponents because you can't say to a CPU "hey please wait a moment I want to try something, please don't attack me" and the Training-Mode is not that good, because you can't use the C-Stick, a CPU doesn't act like a human. But for Waveshines you only have to go in Training-Mode and slow the speed down to get slowly a feeling for it. Then you can increase the speed everytime a bit until you've reached your aim.
(For Fox you need dam* fast fingers ;) )

yea... wavedashing out of a shine into a grab is a very practical technique, very rarely will you actually waveshine someone across the stage like zelgadis. i suggest learning that first, youll get the timing of the wavedash out of shine down better, and youll find more use from it.

against computers you really cant learn much, but practice tech skills, and even then cpus dont DI like players so some combos will never work. but if you have no other way to practice just go up against a level 1 - level 3 link of c. falcon and practice. they have very high traction and its super easy to catch them from the first shine.

See if you can change one of your friend's life by convincing him to play SSBM with you weekly/montly competetivly.

What city do you live in? I'm sorta central CA (Fresno), so we could play some matches.

My friend doesn't have smash...and we don't really interact outside of school.

I live in So Cal, about 30 minutes away from LA.
