Tips on protecting Nana?

I'm new to Ice Climbers (and PM in general), and was wondering if there were any tips or tricks to effectively protecting Nana; and also specifics as to how to save her.

^Thats basically the only real thing you need to know. I'd say generally speaking if you get separated from Nana, try to gauge whether is better to try to go straight for her and reunite with her, or go for your opponent who might be too focused on trying to hit Nana.
