It would seem wonderful that Mario no longer has that weaksauce Tornado, right? Well, maybe. Maybe not.

Judging by the screenshots, dousing people with F.L.U.D.D. can send them a good ways away. The water appears to have a wide spray so it should be a pretty useful edgeguarding tool, especially if the water travels in a downward arc and retains its pressure. And you can also use it out of a shield, which is wonderful. If you can control the direction/angle of the nozzle with the stick, even better. It may even have a recovery purpose; remember Sunshine's Hover and Rocket Nozzles? Might be a similar thing (shooting water beneath yourself with enough charged pressure to push yourself up).

Yet the Tornado is still there. Is it a normal attack? Maybe. Or, maybe it's still a special.

To my knowledge there hasn't been any instance of the Cape in Brawl yet. So maybe...just maybe...*shudder* Sakurai replaced the Cape with the Tornado.

Let's all hope not, and consider some other possibilities.

Nair?: Nairs usually hit all around the character, but in this case it is fortunately not. Mario's nair has already been screenshotted.

Dair?: That seems more likely to me, especially considering how similar Mario's current dair is to the Tornado. Not just that, all of the instances of the Tornado in Brawl have been Rising Tornadoes, and you can do a rising dair with Mario.

Discuss!

hmmmm... we have seen the cape once in the first movie. But that is the last we've seen of it. He could have gotten rid of it by now. I would prefer have the old move set back, but I would rather have the tornado as a side B then have two non-damaging attacks on the list of B moves. Plus the Tornado could have more recovery value if it was a side B attack.

I was very surprised by this. I don't really mind it, since I don't use Mario, but I still think it would be more sited to an item. it could end up being useful though, if it has enough knock back and not too much lag that it would be a problem.

my only problem is what they made the tornado into. they mentioned that it might be a regular attack (possibly an air attack), but didn't really confirm it... every showing of the tornado has been in the air, so it looks like thats what it is (unless they made the tornado his down B when used in the air)

It probably causes no damage in order to balance out the amount of knockback it can do. Especially on walk off levels where easy kos could be possible. Hopefully, there will be enough lag to keep the move from being cheap in that instance.
