I thought it was some kind of disease.

But is doesn't even make sense. I mean, you can just write "plz" or "plez" or whatever it is if you're to lazy to write "please". Who came up with "plox"?

And I agree that it does have an annoying ring to it.

Maybe someone made a typo putting an extra O in the word and instead of hitting the Z key, he/she hit the X key and then it just sorta spread around.

4chan came up with the word pl0x. Also pl0x has a 0 in it not an o.
