This happens more than it should

Trading a hit while you're trying to grab and you see the grab animation go for a split second before that trade hits so YOU lose out on that trade for trying to grab.

Was that in all smash games or just smash 4? Getting hit out of a grab when the grab animation was starting and you physically see the other character getting grabbed too, but the trade hits off.

I think its really stupid.

Afaik, this is only in Smash 4. Brawl and Melee definitely have grab armor. I think PM removes it from Brawl.

Well, way I see it, grabs need to be balanced somehow. From my understanding, grabs are supposed to beat shields, shields are supposed to beat attacks, and attacks are supposed to beat grabs, like a rock-paper-scissors sort of thing, but if regular attacks don't beat grabs (it's not like they consistently do anyway from my experience), then the game simply becomes too grab-centric unless you're using Pac-Man. In other words, I think this is how it's supposed to be, even if it was different in past installments.

Past games had grab armor that made grabbing win two ends of the triangle formed by Attack, Grab, and Shield. Grabs being beaten by attacks evens up the triangle.

As others have said, that mechanic is exclusive to this game. Frankly, I find it to be unnecessary and annoying, and I want grab armor back, because if I don't want to get grabbed, then I'm going to sidestep.
