...and July 07 was never an official date either. You guys are definitely exaggerating the number of delays.

It was TOO a launch title. I have no idea where my references are, but I know for a fact it was supposed to come out in '06, with the Wii.

Quoted for truth. This game was said to be a launch title back around the same time the "Revolution" became the Wii. What isn't clear is when they kinda quietly said "Or maybe not" to a launch title.

Yeah this game was supposed to be a launch title.....Things happen and the delay isn't really that bad.

They called it a launch title when Sakurai still wasnt working on it though. Once Sakurai took up the job, he refused to make "Melee 2.0 Online" like Nintendo had in mind and once the first trailer hit, he made it clear it wouldnt be a launch title.
