I would of posted the link put I'm still to new to post any.
I'm looking for one that I could get cheap and then customize by spray painting.

Yeah I don't think 3rd party stuff is ever good. You always wanna get the Nintendo controllers for best performance.

Would help if you gave us a picture to be honest.

I'm assuming this is the one you're talking about? I've played on these kind of controllers before, and lemme tell you, while you won't have input lag? You'd be better off grabbing an official one. Those ones are pretty bad, and don't last long.
Can you explain specifically what's bad about them? I bought 2 of 'em on Amazon because it was only 10 bucks for both, and so far they've worked totally fine for me.

The shoulder buttons don't feel as responsive, and the plastic that's used is just cheap and uncomfortable IMO. The button presses seem to be more smooth on the official controllers too.

Granted as a competitive Smasher, I want the best.

Not only that, but 3rd party controllers tend to be not as durable.

Also, OP, you might want to consider getting a controller from the Smashboards store. They are official Nintendo ones, and feature a long cable.

The only 3rd party controller that I would say is ever a better buy than the official Nintendo controller isn't a Gamecube one. It's this one:

Those things last forever and are way more ergonomic than the standard 64 controller. Otherwise... buy Nintendo.
