I'm sure this has been stated before, but in recent times theres slightly more information and it'd be nice to see your opinion's on the matter with the current updates.

Virtual Fighter on arcade was one of those games where you could have a carry around card that you use to load your character. If you've ever played VF 4 or 5 you'll remember a mode called Kumite. This is where you basically fight other people and at certain fights against other people you have a chance to gain a certain accessory like headbands capes ext.

Since brawl would be online(hopefully...but won't get into that), and since the NAMES update stating that NAMES will have you have your own configuration and will play a bigger purpose, wouldn't it be nice if against other people online(or just in general), you have battles for certain accesorries to be added to your NAME.

Yes, I am a grammical ****** for fitting that whole paragraph in one sentence.

Just image it. You're fighting you're friend, you're Bowser, he's Link, and randomly it happens to be a accessory battle for Mario's doctor headband thing from Doc. Even though none of you main Mario, that accesory will be added to your NAME. And thus they'll be ALOT of rare items to be found(as rare as some weapons are in Phantasy Star Online, if you've played it).

In all this would make people look more unique online. They could even have it so you can't unlock some things unless you do certain things on one player mode, or get a certain amount of kills on a certain character on your NAME.

All in all, it's just a thought. Show me what you all think, its not too likely, but it'd be pretty nice.

that sounds cool but basically it would prolly come into the game as you fight your opponent and you win a trophy. Well the onlty thing I like was how you could advance in ranks as you won more fights.

I think this is a really great idea. Kudos to you. Alternate costumes would also be possible with this, and would make your character more distinguishable in a 2v2 with a mirrored partner.

Yea, basically.
I've looked up online to look up Pokemon Battle Revolution because it's the only online Wii game at the moment and saw that there are only a couple of character models for the actual trainer. On the other hand though while going through battles and such things you coud unlock accessories to make yourself look more unique...

I really didn't know it until now, but it's nice to know that Nintendo has customization in mind. They didn't want two of the same trainer models going against each other so they made them more distinguishable.

Here's to hoping my idea will be in Brawl, but somehow I doubt it really...

That is a pretty good idea. I like it!

Of course there would be some items that can be used with any character, while other will be exclusive. Or only some character could use it. (i.e. hats can be used by everyone, but the red jumpsuit apparatus can only be used by humanoids.)

Nice idea. I'd image lowbie items like a normal red baseball cap being for everyone.

Not a bad idea, but I fear it would take a LOT of programming...

As long as Link got an FD costume and such, I'd be a VERY happy camper.
Hey, keep in mind that we don't know what Young Link's FS is yet, there is still hope that Nintendo's most awesome creation will be fully playable...

Chromeless, chances are, YL won't be in the game as he was a clone and they're trying to get rid of clones.

As for the equipable items, I'd love it and I don't think it'd be too hard to code. You would just need to make it so all the character models can have over lapping items on them like in an MMO. Some of the all-char items wold probably look bad on certain characters due to different body sizes and stuff sticking out from behind the item or something.

The problem with the idea sadly enough isn't that it'd be a hassel on developers, but I just severely doubt they'd be innoviative enough to implement it(prove me wrong please Sakurai).

And as for the accesories that all the characters would have, like the generic red baseball cap, they could mold it to the different characters. For example, Bowser's red cap would have holes in it to hit his horns and would be slightly bigger than everyone elses.

why don't we go with emblems instead. you know, just a picture attached to certain places. like on mario's cap or on marth's cape, on the side of peach's dress. you get assortment of them but there can be rare ones too. they are not customizable sorry but that's just so no one replicates a rare emblem

Well, it'd get the job done customization-wise, and it's VERY do'able.

Nice thought.
