Before i get to the main subject of this thread I would like to say hello to the Rosalina & Luma boards as this is my first post and I will probably spend most of my time here. Now on to the topic:

Recently, one of the more complained about aspects of the Rosalina & Luma is their up air or, more specifically, Luma's. While it definitely is very threatening (According to Brawl's knockback formula it is the second strongest up air, behind Diddy Kong's currnent up air, at most percentage below around 110 and only starts to get outpaced in knockback by other strong up airs such as Greninija's, Lucas', and Palutena's by around 120 percent) one thing I noticed on almost all recorded cases of Luma getting its infamous 40%~ KO's was that their was no lightning present. This made me look further at their frame data and find that unlike every other characters' up airs that launch at an angle lower than 90, Luma's up air launches at an angle above 90 since it's usually supposed to link into Rosalina's up air when they're synched. This means that because a player's DI instincts will most likely tell them to DI in the direction their opponent is facing, doing so against Luma's up air will not only make it easier to get KO'd off the top by bringing the knockback angle closer to 90 but also reduce the chances of being knocked into Rosalina's up air and not having to deal with Luma's high base knockback in the first place.

TLDR: Luma's up air might no get KO's as early as people think it does due to potentially poor DI.

Thank you for this, I hope many people read this and to add to that, many people also air dodge which is the last thing you want to do because when the Rosalina reads your air dodge you die

I never thought about it that way. I killed a Yoshi a week ago at 40 and yeah... but I've seen a jigglypuff live at higher percents... I guess it all depends on how the opponent DIs hmm... Thank you for this post.
