I made this thread in contrast to the Wii virtual console thread, as Microsoft has made this service in contrast to the Wii's VC service.

Basically, the 360 will now have games available to download via Xbox Live. The games are 2 to 7 gigs in size and normally take 4 to 8 hours to download(which is OK, because we have background downloading now ;)).

Another thing,
The games are receiving absolutely no updates. Everything will be exactly the way it was on the Xbox.

The first 6 games to from Xbox Live's new, "Xbox Originals" feature.

Burnout 3:Takedown-Lame, wait for Burnout Revenge

Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex-Meh, pretty weak platforming series IMO, but a classic nonetheless

Crimson Skies-Never played it, but I've heard good things about it.

Fable-Hell yeah! This is easily one of the Xbox's best offerings, and will be sure to help tide fans over who wait for the sequel.

Fuzion Frenzy-:scared:

Halo-No need for explanation

and the big one...

Psychonauts-Download this game when this service comes out, it's the best platformer to ever grace the system, shame this didn't get more attention on its first run. I could probably go on and on about how entertaining the dialog in this game is, how innovative the gameplay is, how this game does an awesome job of mixing things up, how creative the worlds you enter in this game are, and how this game makes you really care about its characters, but I'll digress.

That's it so far, but the first link promises over 200 games for this service, so look forward to that.

Will update first post as more info comes out.

Well, the 360 has always had downloadable games with Xbox Live Arcade, but this is a huge step forward. I mean, last gen games available for download? Awesome. Every game is set to cost 1200 marketplace points, which is $15.

And btw, Burnout 3 > Burnout Revenge

Looks like I'm finally going to have to pick up the 120GB harddrive.

I don't think I'll really be doing this cause I have the 20GB harddrive, that won't hold that many original xbox game downloads. This is when the 150GB harddrive with the elite comes into handy. And I thought that it was only 1200 points/ $15 for Microsoft ones, not other companies games. Anyways, have you guys ever had this problem where you are downloading a game demo off the marketplace and you decide to play another game (i.e. Halo 3) and it pops up when it's loading the game with "Download Stopped for [insert] demo"? It happens to me. Or maybe it's because my background downloading option is off?

Background downloading is turned off in games like Halo 3 because your friends can hop into your game whenever they want, so everything is being hosted on Live. If background downloading was enabled, it'd be really laggy.

Are they going to keep the old synchronous network scheme they used for Halo 1, or are they going to do it asynchronously like Halo 3?

F8AL, there's some games that you can download stuff in the background while playing, some you can't. In Halo 3 you can't because your friends can always jump in, so you're always on Live even if you don't think you are. Same for Crackdown. But in a game like Oblivion you can download stuff in the background as it's only Live Aware, it doesn't use Live for anything else.
