The WaveDash Controller is wireless WiiU Controller with a Retro look!

The WaveDash looks to fill the hole left in the WiiU gaming community for a modern controller with today's standard inputs.

What is the WaveDash?

The WaveDash is based off the fan favorite controller of the past with some new exciting features.

  • Gone is the Left analog stick of old, replaced with a full size analog stick for better comfort and control.
  • Each controller will have a USB rechargeable battery inside.
  • Dual "Z" Bumpers. (Note: The new Pro Controller for the WiiU labels the BOTTOM triggers ZR and ZL, while the Bumpers are R and L. We will follow this naming convention as well.)
  • Larger D-Pad for classic control.
  • "Clickable" L/R Analog sticks.
  • This controller will function exactly as 1st/3rd party controllers for the WiiU do now. No Wiimote or adapter needed.

Im curious, is there a difference in input comparing a Wired GC controller to a Wireless GC controller? I keep hearing that wired is the only way to go for competitive

Wired is always the way to go in competitive gaming since you never need to worry about input lag.

Well, that was a waste, considering that the GC controller will be 100% compatible.

Also, we're not sure if wavedashing will be in SSB4 yet.

This is really a stupid kickstarter... I mean...why? Gamecube Adapter from first party > anything third party.

Does it work as a classic controller pro? I guess it might be cool to have a wireless controller for casual play, but I still have two wave birds. If the official Nintendo adapter doesn't work as a CC Pro and this does I could also play Wind Wake HD with it..... the bigger D Pad is nice, but I doubt the build quality would be up to Nintendo's standard.

Also "Gone is the Left analog stick of old, replaced with a full size analog stick for better comfort and control." Don't you mean the right analog stick AKA the C stick?

Well, at least people have an alternative to look forward to if the GCC Adapter either isn't sold out to the public...or doesn't work with any games but Smash 4.

Especially the latter one. If that's the case, then this controller would basically become a nice alternative to the Wii U Pro Controller alongside being good for Smash.

I'd buy it.

I'm waiting on whether they announce whether the buttons are remappable. I'd love to play Pikmin 3 and Windwaker HD with their Gamecube controller configurations, but if this directly copies the Pro controller, everything will feel kinda off. If this is a thing, I'll buy it. If not, count me out. (I'm buying the official Nintendo adapter anyway; it's just a general lack of controllers that keeps me interested.)

Hm, doesn't mention anything about being able to use it as wired by connecting the cable.

The clickable control sticks and dual Z buttons make it an improvement to the regular GCC, but the fact that its wireless kills it :S. What materials are you using for the control? I might be interested if it is a high quality controller.

You say you are going to be at E3, I'll look you up at the Nintendo Booth to try out the controller :p.

I bet as they were planning this and the GC controller adapter for the Wii U was announced they were like "Nooooooooo!" or something :p.

Yeah, it's just kind of pointless now. Not that the additions aren't good. And that 399k goal wasn't realistic at all even if Nintendo didn't account GC controller support.

Hori made something similar to this. It's wired though.

Edit: Also I was looking for something like this some days ago and that's how I discovered the Hori version. Second I don't think this is stupid, not everyone wants to play wired gamecube and It took me some time to even find the Hori version so I think this kickstarter is good.

It's not that I think this was a stupid idea.

It's just a little sad.

Sad because two young, bright, very enthusiastic lads were probably pouring their heart into this product for months, probably thinking about it for even longer, and it will all be for naught. They are putting time, money and energy into a prototype and their promotional material that, had Nintendo not announce the adapter, would have been very well received.

They put in all of this work, and due to a rather spontaneous announcement, will never receive the support to bring this product to fruition. No offence to this Kickstarter or its supporters, you are doing nothing wrong, but I am going to have to be honest here and say there is no way this is going to receive sufficient funding now.

And it's not like Nintendo did anything wrong, either. They gave the community exactly what they wanted. There are no villains in this story. I hope at the very least they can find a way to get this into the hands of the few people who will want it, but even that is asking for a lot since I can already think of two wireless products targeting a similar audience.

Edit - And I know some smug basement-dweller will want to call me out on calling them "bright", and to that, I would like to illustrate that they have been working on this since before the GC adapter was announced. May as well go through with what they've got to see if it catches any wind. Don't think they'll be all too surprised if this doesn't work, but it was still worth a shot. For reference, the Kickstarter account was made back in January.

I think people are forgetting something here, the gamecube adapter might not be compatible with most games while the pro controller most likely is, and i think its safe to assume games like mk8 probably wont support the adapter since so this is a nice solution if someone wants gamechbe control for that.

That being said however i dont see many people supporting this including myself. The pro controller is a fantastic controller and i can honestly say i prefer it in most cases. The gamecube design is much more suited to smash however and im sure most people are use to it but since the adapter has us covered there I don't see this product getting much use.

Yeah, the large difference between this and a GC controller via adapter is that the Wii U sees this controller as a Pro Controller, so any game that uses the Pro controller can use this.

But like others have said, it's not nearly as necessary anymore, since the Pro Controller was never inherently flawed in the first place, it was just not preferred for Smash. I imagine there are people who would like to use a GC-style controller for games other than smash bros, but I imagine that's a pretty small minority of people. Most people are content with the Pro Controller. Those who GC for Smash alone now have the adapter.

This is perfect for GameCube Virtual Console. Also I just like the double layered pun with the name.

Hopefully this will get funded, despite the backlash.

There's a Classic Controller GCN controller coming. (That one Nintendo hired a third party to make)

There's the adapter coming.

Now a Pro Controller.

WE'VE COME FULL CIRCLE!
