The VS Mode

I'm the type of player who likes to flick Super Smash Bros on, pick my character, then choose somebody to fight as a cpu player, pick a stage then battle the cpu opponent.

Of course I also do this while having certain items flicked off, most of time all the items flicked off.

You know the same VS mode from the original 64 version, Melee and Brawl, do we still have this?

AI controlled characters have been in since the begining, I see no reason that would change now.

Hopefully, I can't necessarily imagine being forced to play against humans on the 3DS version. If you are asking about whether or not the Vs. mode will include the ability to turn items off and on, again, I am positive that we will have that ability. Sakurai is marketing this game as an equal to the Wii U version. Such features would not be missing.

Of course, why wouldn't we have it.

I do see the 3DS version's CPU being weaker than Wii U's.

Vs Mode is one of the biggest things in Smash Bros so why the hell would they get rid of it?

It'd be a stupid change to change the usual VS mode in general, let alone the option to play against CPU players

Well Sakurai gave us the option to fight CPU players, control items and choosing stages etc in Kid Icarus Uprising so I don't see why he would take it all out of the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros....

In the Smash Direct, Sakurai specifically mentioned that playing online with friends would give you free reign over what kind of matches you wanted to play.

Brawl was a similar case, it gave you most of the options you'd have locally.

So I think VS Mode is going to be fine. If anything, I'm curious as to what kind of additions they might have for it, specifically for "Special Smash".

I would expect them to keep it, since it has been in the past games. Having a multiplayer only game would suck.

Why was this idea even thought of? What would even BE the benefits of an only multiplayer game (not hating on anyone)? Especially for the 3DS, you aren't supposed to know people who have the game (even though there should be a lot). It's not an easy thing buying one either.

Speaking of buying the game/3DS, is there going to be download play on the 3DS version? I really hope so, if that's the case.

Download play seems unlikely in my opinion because of the potential money being lost, but is a title that Nintendo knows is multi-player driven like MK7 and Mario Party which both featured download play. So... maybe?

Well, if we can just connect like 5 remotes to the Wii U with one game, why can't we just use 4 3DS's with a person with only one game?

The only recent game that I can recall that took out the VS mode was Mario Kart 7. Since that game was supposedly rushed, I don't see it being taken out of this game.

Well I was just concerned because of the neglect of showing the vs mode, Sakurai only showed those Bound for Glory Bound for Fun Online Modes and I'm not interested in those.
