The Terrible Italian Translation

Yeah ... That's ... Akward.
I'm Italian, yeap.
So ... In Brawl I hated the Pokémon Trainer; his italian voice was the voice of a 5-6 years old kiddo, and it was terrible. In SSB4 ... A lot of things are even more terrible.

- Lucario's dubber it's the same of Piccolo from Goku Saga, and that's sooooo weird. You can't even imagine.
- Villager's name changed to "Abitante", that means "Resident Guy" and it's awful to hear.
- Instead of "Shulk" the announcer says "SHUKKK". Wat.
- Lucina's name pronunciation is ... Horrible.
- Same with Palutena.
- Same for Robin (Daraen).
- "Duck Hunt" changed to "Duo Duck Hunt", that can be translated in "The Two From Duck Hunt", and that's without reason and akward.

I wanted to complain. That's all.

The Portuguese translation doesn't have a translated announcer, but the text is all localized. Villager is also Habitante, which is awkward, but passable, but one thing really stuck me as fatal: the description for the Sheik trophy calls her a HE.

Well, "Habitante" is a gender neutral noun, so it makes some sense why they went with that translation. (I'm Portuguese too.)

But yeah, calling Sheik male wasn't a very good idea... Especially considering the English text refers to her as feminine, not to mention she's Zelda. Even the official website calls Sheik a female in the Portuguese translation, which makes this situation even more jarring.

That's pretty bad to refer to Sheik as a he. Though during the game I interpreted it as Zelda crossdressing for her disguise -- so for example if there was a trophy of Lucina with her Marth mask on, they would probably call it "he" too.

Or it's just a dumb mistake... lol

Well, there are character palette swaps/alts that switch names in all versions (Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings, for example), so handling male/female nouns for certain languages wouldn't be a problem.

The Portuguese localization team is the one at fault. Sheik is female because Sheik is Zelda.

Like I said, the Portuguese website does refer to Sheik as female, which makes things horribly inconsistent.

What? How does Duck Hunt make any more sense? Duck Hunt Duo is even better than Duck Hunt Dog that some people used and it's still abbreviates to DHD. It's perfect.

That is actually a better name than Duck Hunt.
