The Summer of Smash keeps building as three new events have been announced!

2GGC adds another Saga to its lineup in the form of ARMS Saga, featuring Wii U and ARMS, hosted in the familiar eSports Arena in Southern California. With the hype for Nintendo’s upcoming fighter, ARMS, growing more and more in the wake of its Global “Testpunch,” it seems only logical to start hosting events for it alongside Smash. Taking place on July 8, ARMS Saga is sure to be a can’t-miss event, with Wii U singles, Wii U doubles, ARMS, and interestingly enough, Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots. Yes, you read that correctly.

Genesis RED has been added to the FUSE Doubles Circuit, and takes place the day after ARMS Saga, July 9, in Berkeley, California. The first event to be hosted at the Cornerstone bar in downtown Berkeley, RED will offer both Melee singles and Melee doubles and is the final event for the Doubles Circuit, with 1st place granting a whopping 500 points. Top players such as Daniel “ChuDat” Rodriguez, Hugo “HugS” Gonzalez, and Michael “Nintendude” Brancato will be aiming for first in both brackets, so be sure to not miss the last Melee event before EVO 2017!

And to cap off the summer, Red Bull has announced Gods and Gatekeepers, a Melee tournament to be hosted in Los Angeles, CA, running from September 2 to September 3.

Gods and Gatekeepers is a unique tournament for the Smash community, as players will now be climbing through a double elimination bracket to reach a new challenge: a crew battle. Once Top 32 has been decided, eight Smash Gods and some Gatekeepers (players slightly below the level of Godhood), will then draft Crews. However, only 16 players will be chosen from the Top 32 as their “disciples.”

The Gods and Gatekeepers heading the Crews are as follows:
  • Justin “Wizzrobe” Hallett

  • Zac “SFAT” Cordon

  • Jeffrey “Axe” WIlliamson
  • Jason “Mew2King” Zimmerman

  • Justin “Plup” McGrath

  • Joseph “Mang0” Marquez

  • Daniel “ChuDat” Rodriguez

  • William “Leffen” Hjelte
With these and many more events on the horizon this summer, it’s hard to not get hyped for the months to come! For future tournament announcements, stay tuned to Smashboards.
