. . . why don't I kill 3 birds with one stone. Heh.

I offer to you the perfect person to take up the task! Presenting Strider Hiryu! Welcome to the Shrine!

A Brief History of Strider Hiryu via Wikipedia

The titular Striders are a fictional group of ninja-like secret agents specializing in kidnapping, assassination, demolition and other specific tasks, with Hiryu himself belonging to the "Super A Grade" class. Hiryu is usually dressed in a blue-colored ninja outfit and often wears a red large scarf that conceals the lower half of his face(In the first Strider he wore lavender blue without his mouth covered). Hiryu's primary weapon is the "Cypher", a plasma-generating broadsword with a tonfa-like handle, although sometimes he is assisted by robotic companions which he obtains as power-ups in the original arcade game.

In the side-scrolling platform game, the player takes control of Strider Hiryu, a ninja-style warrior who must defeat a legendary being known as Grandmaster Meio. Meio has observed Earth from his dwelling in a far off galaxy, and has created a space station (known as 'The Third Moon'), between Earth and its original moon in order to rule earth and continue observation. The year is 2048. Armed with a sword known as a 'Falchion', Hiryu must travel around the globe (including the Soviet Union and the Amazon Rainforest) to find and destroy the evil being. Throughout his travels Strider encounters many power-ups, including robotic animals called 'Options' (a hawk and a leopard) which help him defeat enemies. He also has the ability to latch onto walls and ceilings using a metallic hook; an aspect which set the game apart from other platformers.

Strider Hiryu Timeline
1988- Hiryu started out being just a run-of-the-mill ninja in a manga published by Katokawa Shoten. Later in May, it was viewed by Japan in the Weekly Comic Corp. Does this deconfirm him just because he's an anime character? Only if you show this info to Sakurai himself.:chuckle:

1989- Hiryu got his big break by making his debut in two arcade games called Strider.

1992- Hiryu appeared first on the Megadrive System. The sequel was called Strider Returns: A Journey Into Darkness. This title was also released on the NES. However, it was not at all received by Strider fans, thus it isn't deemed a sequel at all....or that nobody speaks of. Shhhh!

1999- Hiryu gets his big break thanks to Capcom! He fights on the worldwide popular series Marvel vs. Capcom. This game really boosted Strider's popularity!

1999- Hiryu stars in the true sequel on Playstation dubbed Strider 2.

2000- Hiryu makes a comeback on Marvel vs. Capcom 2.

2004- Hiryu appears in the RPG Namco X Capcom.

Why Strider Hiryu for Brawl?
Lots of popular fighting games like Mortal Kombat, Dead or Alive, Soul Calibur, and Virtua Fighter have plenty of ninjas. Lets face it, ninjas will forever be awesome! However, I've noticed that the Smash Bros series only techinically has one shinobi, namly Sheik. Frankly she needs the company of another ninja. I believe that's when Strider comes into play.

Moreover, Strider's history with Nintendo was very brief, but it doesn't have to end. I mean Capcom has a pretty good relationship with them. Yes yes, and I am perfectly aware of other potentially more popular Capcom candidates that could be on Brawl rather than Strider like Megaman, Ryu, Zero, and even Dante. However, popular is not always better. I picture Strider's appearance at first being "WTF OMG! What the F*** is he doing on the game!?" Still though, eventually, he will win over the public with his charisma, bad@ss attitude, and kick@ss moveset. Finally, I'm also perfectly aware that he may only be an Assist Trophy for whatever reason. If that's the case, heck, I'll still take that and run with it!

Strider Hiryu Moveset

Standard Combo (AAA) "Illusion Blade Waltz"- Strider forward slices his opponent with his Cypher sword, then on the second hit turns 180 degrees to back slice his foe, and on the third hit finishes the combination with a backwards sweep knocking his victim off balance.

Standard B "Ourboros" Definitely his best special. Two satellites will revolve around Strider, and protect him from everything except a beam super! While they protect him, Strider can also launch rings at the opponent by simply attacking. Do a few chains on them and then finish them with another super! You can call your helper too, and add extra hits! Sweetness!

Up B "Formation A" Strider splits up into 4 images, then all 3 after images and Strider strike downwards launching 4 kicks to his foe's face! It's good for surprising your opponent.

Forward B "Vagula" Strider calls forth a panther that runs at a fast pase mauling any thing that gets in it's way! Vagula cancels out most projectiles, but it leaves Strider very open.

Down B "Ragnarok" Strider dashes forward in an attempt to grab his opponent. If Strider isn't blocked, he will auto-combo the opponent using multi-images of himself. This move has poor range, and should only be used when the opponent is stunned or facing the wrong way. However, it does solid damage, and can be used while in Ourboros mode.

Dodging Down L "Zanzou" Strider dissappears and then reappears after 2 and a half seconds.

Dodging L/R- Strider just cartwheels with one hand out of harms way.

Smash A "Triple Break" Strider kicks his opponent twice and on the third kick, he spin kicks his foe.

Smash Up A "Gen'ei Phantom Flipkick" Strider creates a doppelganger and back flip kicks his foe.

Smash Down A "Kunai Tempest" Strider spins into the air multiple times and unloads a barrage of kunai on his opponent.

Grab Standard A- Nothing special here. Strider just knees his opponent.

Grab Back A "Rolling Thunder" Strider grabs and rolls with his opponent and flips them.

Grab Down A "Gouijoushi Moguru" Strider plunges into the air with his opponent and spin drops them head first. Just look a Rock Lee's Primary Lotus and you'll know what I mean. Strider's will be cooler looking though cause it's done....with style!

Grab Forward A "Hiryu Appaakatto" Strider launches his opponent in the air with a palm thrust uppercut. You are then able to do some crazy air juggles.

Strider's Final Smash "LEGION" Strider sends a squadron of twenty panthers and eagles will charge forward. Use this in the corner for crucial damage. Very very hard to dodge.

WHOA! This music raised some memories here! Strider on the Mega Drive was an awesome game!
I never had the opportunity to play it on the Mega Drive.:ohwell: I only got to play the arcades (always took all my quarters. Never beat it) and on the computer. I hate playing on the computer because I have to use the keyboard!!

So yeah, I as a Strider fan didn't beat any of those games yet. I will though....eventually.

Strider's fanbase is based on his character design.
...Or...y'know, they could've actually LOVED his games.

Strider 1 was a great game, Strider 2 (Arcade/PSX) was also good, and the NES classic, while vastly different, was fun as well.

Then there's also the game called "Cannon Dancer"/"Osman" by Mitchell Corp. Was an Arcade-only release that was made by the original team behind Strider 1, after they left Capcom way back in the 90s. It's got all of the style of the Strider gameplay...just with no Hiryu. And it was still a fine game.

You've couldn't have been more right mi hermano!:smoke: I mean, the guys got it all! A nice tight looking outfit, robots/panthers/and falcons (mech of course) doing his bidding, and all that good stuff. Typical ninja characteristics to being an awesome ninja. That and he makes his games awesome. He should be featured in more....like Brawl or another Smash Sequel.

Anyways, here are a couple of signatures for you supporters. I'll add them to the first page because I know they're going to get lost among the pages.

Seriously....bump.

Where on earth are my supporters at? I guess topics are only beefed up if people start to flame Strider.

I haven't gotten one person yet. Go figure.
