This topic was started back in July 3rd, 2007, long before the days of prophets, of leaks, of screaming and whining children, and of Landmasters. The topic was created with the goal of seeing who could come up with the most accurate roster of Brawl (not a wishlist, but pure prediction), and each participant had 35 tries to do so.
Later, I edited the rules to allow for a secondary character where you could add 5 more characters for 40 total tries. This would be separate from the original, main one.
And now with the final roster out, here are the results!
Final Standings
(If I made a mistake in counting, let me know. I'm only human, after all.)
All people in yellow are latecomers (after Ike and PT's announcement). The rules for uber late entries were that you have to include announced characters, but they don't count to your total (if you kept them out, you lost a point). And unless you proved that you would've picked him otherwise, people didn't get credit for Ike after his unveiling on 8/1. So in other words, almost everyone in yellow is down one point for not giving me proof.
I only tallied up results up to page 7. After that, it loses its point just because of how late it was.

Everyone give a round of applause to bksands77 (31/35) and TaurToph (33/35)! TaurToph only missed Pokemon Trainer (who I doubt anyone would've guessed) and R.O.B. Impressive to say the least. Also, kudos to everyone else who did well. :D
As for prizes, who knows. I wish I could give out custom avatars to the two winners, but I don't have the power to do that. Maybe we can ask Gid about it, considering how epic the contest was, in a way.

I was originally planning on doing this later, but with the announcement of assist trophies ruling out character choices (Hammer Bros and Goroh), I suppose I'll start this up. So here's the deal. Everyone's making their own cute little character lists, but what I really wanna see is how they all match up to each other in the end. So that's what this is, a lottery/competitition, whatever. Once we know every character in the game, I'll post the winner and the second-place runner up(s).
As for the prizes, fame? Pride? To be able to guess the character list is certainly a feat, and if you suddenly went "I CALED THAT SEVRAL MONTHS AGO LOL!" it won't exactly cut it for credibility. (There was a debate between me and a certain idiot I won't name years ago about the authenticity of the Melee secret characters, for example.) However, if anyone has any other ideas for a prize, lemme know. No money or anything like that -- I'm cheap.
The Rules:
-The rules are simple. You're allowed a character list of at max 35. Note, this does not mean I think there will be 35 characters, but if there are less in the real game, then you have more chances to get it right. Likewise, if there are more characters in the real game, then you just have less chances to get as many hits as you can. I doubt anyone would get perfect anyways.
-For Samus/ZSS, they will count as one character slot. We know both characters are released, and this isn't to debate whether or not they'll be separate characters. If you use separate slots, you'll just be wasting one.
-You can't have more than one character per slot (unless they're together like the Ice Climbers), so you can't be like "Ness/Lucas (whichever represents Mother)." You must pick one.
-If you make a character list after an unexpected new challenger character is released, your list will automatically have one less hit in comparison to everyone else who posted their list earlier. You will lose another point if you don't include that character (so you don't get a "free slot"), same goes for all announced characters. So you better start early.
-You can edit your list, but keep in mind, that the above rules hold true, so be careful if you do (and no cheating, we can see when you edit your posts).
-Also, no sigs please.

-In order to allow more diversity in our lists, I'm introducing the addition of a Secondary Lottery. This will be considered like a separate lottery for a what-if scenario where the game will have at least 40 characters, rather than 35. So there will be a winner for each lottery, etc.
-To participate in this lottery, just add 5 auxillary characters to your list, separate from your original 35. You can put them separately, or include them in your list, as long as they are given special markers. These extra five will not participate in the main lottery, but will be given equal value in the secondary lottery. In the even of a tie in the main lottery, they will also serve as tiebreaker characters.
-Keep in mind that the 35 character one is still the main lottery. If you want to make just 40 characters, that's fine, but you'll be opting yourself out of the main one. It isn't hard to set aside 5 characters that you think have the least chance of making it in.
-You cannot edit your list to take away a deconfirmed character or add a confirmed newcomer. I already have you marked on my standings list.
-New entries must be able to prove that they had a list with a confirmed newcomer or without a deconfirmed character in order to pass by without losing a point for each, respectively.
