The situation regarding the Virtual Console sucks.
The service has been going downhill for awhile, ever since November, 2008. To be honest, I didn't get my Wii connected to the Internet until June, 2008. I was fine with two-VC weeks releases. The Virtual Console grew into what would be my very favorite part of the Wii and it still is to this date.
However, when they started to do multiple one-game week for the Virtual Console, I started to get really ****** off. Holiday, 2008 was a near disater for the Virtual Console. Had it not been for retail/WiiWare line-up of 2008 (Just my opinion that I liked it), I would have been absolutely bored throughout the holiday.
When Nintendo pulled off the two-no week VC ******** in July, 2009, I was furious. I went into outrage about that because I did not want to put up with it. Heck, I even made a petition to save the Virtual Console. I was really serious about this.
Eventually, I stopped complaining for a little while, but with the multiple no-VC weeks that has been going on lately, I have a really terrible feeling.
Nintendo could potentially been killing the Virtual Console service right in our eyes. The releases have slowed down so badly that it's unbelieveable. Germany once went over a month without the Virtual Console (Shadow Dancer not released their due to licensing issues).
Honest to god I promise to do this. IF Nintendo does cancel the Virtual Console, once I get enough money...
I will...
I REPEAT
I WILL sell my Nintendo Wii, my Nintendo DSi, and all my games for both system and buy a Playstation 3, NO exception. I will not tolerate the cancellation of the Virtual Console at all.
Neither will other Nintendo core gamers. Nintendo will lose the majority of their already small core gaming fan base they have. This will bite Nintendo in the back and this mistake will be impossible to fix.
Kirby Super Stars is a great retro game I've never originally played. It's Nintendo latest VC game, go check it out. I want to see a lot more of this. I want to see Earthbound, Star Fox, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, more Megaman games, you know, games that people want. For Nintendo to actually denide us that would be a huge shame, because they have the oppertunity to save retro gaming legally and this may be Nintendo's only chance.
So people, I want you to answer these two questions:
1. Who do you think is responsible for the downfall of the Virtual Console?
2. How can we fix the problem before it's too late?
I want everyone's thoughts on this. Get discussing.
Let's really think about this.
