So I think it is important for everyone who plays sheik to know what they are doing. The only way for people to truly learn how to do certain things is through criticism. I would suggest creating a new video thread for sheik in order for members who play as sheik or against these sheik's to analyze their play.

I can't say that this criticism will be good, as the people from whom gives it will have varying levels of experience, but I think it is a good idea.

So feel free to post some of your videos that you want to have criticize and I will up them in this post for people to review and comment on.

It is different from the Sheik Video Archive in the sense that these will be new videos of people, not videos from 2-3 years ago. I will try to make sure that the videos that are upped are less than 3 months old.

Hope this will be helpful.

First off, thanks for making this, I'm transitioning from noob to (hopefully) competitive and need HELP!

sorry for noobish first question, can you point me to a thread that explains methods of screen capture? I'm just not sure how to do it.

Thanks,
~Behemoth

once I figure it out, I'll upload a video or two.

I'm not up on the recording of videos, as people usually just record my matches for me, but best of luck getting your video's up.

I think a good thing to do was discuss a couple of matches in depth a day or so. With a large amount of participants, we could get a good discussion on what you are doing right and wrong. This would require a bit of participation, and a little note taking, but it is for the benefit of the whole.

An a example of what I would like to do is the following:

A person posts a video of a match (Sheik v. Fox/Falco/Marth/Sheik/CF/etc)

I change the title of the thread to read: Sheik v (whatever) daily critique

people would then watch the video and offer advice and alternatives to that person.

Hopefully this can be done with multiple videos a day and can be done for pros as well as people who are new to the game.

yea. If there is a mod out there, they should probably close this thread. It's obviously in the wrong place, and unnecessary.

I think it's a good idea. I was planning on using this instead of making another "critique me" thread. I believe less clutter is better.

work on your grab game and especially tech chasing .. don't just go for a shffl'd n-air when you know where they're teching, go for a grab and keep the combo going. (watch for tech patterns some people are very predictable)
more needles?
vary your approach .. shffling every time gets old
don't underestimate the b-air.. its nice to keep distance on falco while staying on him
wavedashing out of shield into a grab can be helpful when falco is close with lasers
platform needling and drop into aerial is a nice trick as well

I was wondering if someone could take a look at my sheik video... I am really not that good and I don't know where to start my training.

Okay, I'm not a good Shiek, I can beat a level 9, but I've never played anyone whom is anywhere near pro standard, so I'm whofully inexperienced.. However there are a few things I noticed. Firstly, you transformed in match. Seriously, if you'd been playing a good Marth, then he would've been able to start with an advantage, and if he was lucky, even prevent your transformation. To transform before teh match, press and hold 'A' after the map has been selected, and it is loading. You should hear the transform SFX.

Secondly, I noticed that you were very reliant on Shiek's dash attack, and generally stayed out of the air. You need to get into the air. Shiek has an incredible air game, and with her speed, you should be able to land some hits, especially on a Marth like that. Secondly, don't ***** out Shiek's dash so much, it's a laggy move, and if you can't sweetspot it everytime, it isn't worth using, and especially at low %'s, it really isn't worth using, as you cannot use it to hot your opponent into the air for a fair or bair.

Now, I don't know if what I said was right, because like I said, I'm no master Shiek ,in fact, my brother's Samus' Projectile game seems to be able to defeat me often, probably because I haven't mastered Needles. But, in any case, these are the things I saw, and the things I've mentioned have defiantly improved my Shiek game, be it through my accidental discovery, or throught the reading of guides. Work with it. :)

Well that's my lame sheik. I noticed a few things just from watching myself. I have some technical issues, like I need to fast fall everything, and I can't tech for crap. My DI needs work too. I know general survival DI and such but there are specific things like when I get faired to a tipped f-smash death. Any advice on that stuff would be great. I also think there are a lot of times when I could be grabbing but don't. I never knew I downsmashed so much until I saw these vids, but I think it's kinda atypical for me. In addition, one of my biggest problems is edge guarding consistently and well. Thanks in advance or any advice :)
