"THE ROOM is an electrifying American black comedy about love, passion, betrayal and lies."

That's what it says on the website. While the word "comedy" is in the description, it wasn't originally supposed to be one at all.

In 2002, when Tommy Wiseau, a man from New Orleans (with a French accent) somehow gained 6 million dollars (although he doesn't want to reveal how), he used them to recruit a team of actors that would star in his upcoming movie, The Room. When the movie had its theatrical release in 2003, Tommy Wiseau was anticipating a national success and thought of himself as a brilliant Actor/Director/Writer. It was a movie with a serious tone, concerning betrayal, drugs and ruined relations. But to his surprise, the audience was LAUGHING at his movie.

Years later, the movie can still be seen in cinemas all over the US, simply because it has gained its own little super-dedicated fanbase. To be honest, this is without a doubt THE funniest movie I have ever seen in my entire life. Tommy Wiseau's attempt at a cinematographic masterpiece just fails so miserably in every way imaginable.

First off, let's watch the trailer.

So yeah, Wiseau's over-the-top acting and hilarious accent make this look pretty amusing. What also cracks me up constantly is the fact that Tommy Wiseau is so out of place in this movie. Among young, good looking people, (who are also terrible actors for that matter) there is also one middle aged European guy with hair below his shoulders.

Now, let's watch a clip.

Wow. Did I just hear that? "I did not hit her, I DID NAAAAHT. Oh, hi Mark!"

In all honesty, this happens constantly in the movie. Characters changing to new subjects and subplots at the blink of an eye, and lines are delivered like if they are being told to someone who isn't even present.

Oh boy, the drama. You can probably understand that this was never meant to be a comedy. No, no. This is SERIOUS. Can't you see the look in Tommy's face? Can't you hear his French-English translation for "I feel betrayed!" - "HUARRRGGLLGLGL!"?

And now, for the most out of place, inconsistent, confusing and terribly directed scene I have ever witnessed in a movie:

I think you get the point.

It was impossible for me to get a copy of this so I had to download a torrent for the first time in years, but if you can somehow get a chance to watch this movie, go for it. And most importantly, watch it with other people. You're in for one hilarious movie.
