The REAL Reason People Are Disappointed

I'd like to start out by saying that I'm really sorry that I am bringing something up that has been already beat to death on this forum and others. There seems like there are hundreds of threads talking about this but that said I don't really feel like going through all of them to confirm it.

The reason I decided to make this thread is because I'm tired of people complaining about their disappointment with the final roster and I want to address a few points. If you don't care what I have to say (because really, this is just my opinion), by all means ignore this post.

First of all I'd like to say that people who are disappointed with the clones have every right to be as Sakurai said there would be no clones. Sure, the clone characters aren't exactly the same with there being slight differences, but because of their major similarities it's pretty safe to label them as clones.

Now besides that, I think there are two major reasons why people were/are disappointed. The first being the way they chose to announce newcomers. As other people have no doubt already stated, if they had confirmed all the old characters first and then gradually shown the newcomers I think people would not have been let down. I mean, with meta knight, deedeedee, snake, sonic, etc. we were pumped up in the beginning thinking there were more awesome new characters to come. But what were we left with that wasn't a clone or in previous smash bros? Just R.O.B. really. This not only gave away all the awesome surprises from the beginning but had us believing there would be more to come.

The second thing that played a major role in people's disappointment was the hype. Many people were expecting this to be the best game ever made... that it would be absolutely perfect. (or at least as close to it as possible) Basically many got themselves really, really excited about the game with huge expectations to where they deluded themselves into thinking that the game was going to be very close to what they had pictured in their mind. I realize the amount of people who worked on this game and how long they had to do that but people seemed to forget that it's possible that the game wasn't going to turn out the way they wanted. Many people also got excited about different rumors like there being 50 characters or that this character or that character would be in the game, but that was their fault. It's fine to be hopeful but you can't expect them to deliver everything you wished for.

Well, that's it really. Again, sorry if I've stated something that has already been stated a million times. I'm just tired of seeing comments on other boards or youtube comments of people's outrage that they didn't get the perfect roster they had envisioned.
