Why hello! I have decided to host a Live Double Elimination tournament, and would love to have some of you beautiful posters participate!

RULES:
1) All characters aloud (even Meta Knight)
2) 3 Stock
3) 8 minute time limit
4) No items
5) Stalling and MK infinite cape glitch are banned
6) Modified APEX stagelist is being used
- Neutrals
--- Battlefield, Smashville, Final Destination, Lylat Cruise, Yoshi's Island (Brawl)
- Counterpicks
--- Pokemon Stadium 1, Halberd, Castle Siege, Delfino Plaza, Frigate Orpheon, Brinstar, Norfair
7) First stage will be chosen by whoever has the lower bracket number (randomly chosen, see bracket for your number). After that first match the loser decides the next stage.
8) Matches will be best 2 of 3
9) Winners Finals, Losers Finals and Grand Finals will all be best 3 of 5

The time the tournament will start will depend on what is convenient for everyone, but the day will either be a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Once the tournament has begun I will put the Bracket in the second post (marked *reserved* currently) and you will all have 3-5 weeks to play your matches. All results for the matches will be posted here, and I will update the bracket as results come in. A chat room will be provided once the tournament has started so that you may all communicate quickly and efficiently.

If you are interested in participating or are signed up, I highly recommend that you select the "watch this thread" option so that you will receive notifications on the status of the tournament.

Don't worry about it man! This is only my second tournament, and the two personal friends that are going to sign up soon have never been in a tournament before.

The important thing is to go in thinking positive and just enjoying the experience. Who knows, maybe someone in this tourney will become a sparring partner that you will both benefit from playing and talking with.

But I definitely give you props for joining, most newcomers would just cower out of tournaments altogether, so this is definitely a good sign on your part!

It is an online tournament (obviously) so what I will do is setup a chat room and players will communicate with their opponent either in the chatroom or via PM to add each other and figure out a time to play your matches.

And your second question makes no sense to me... What?

The second question was like an add on to the first thing.
I want to know where the chatroom where we do stuff is. AIB? Here? Some random irc thing?

I will be posting the chatroom and tournament bracket tomorrow at around 4:30 (CST). The chatroom will be a Parachat room.

Weeks?! Oh damn, this is gonna go slow. If everyone finishes their matches before then, can we move on?

Bracket and chatroom link have been posted (check the second post), you may begin as soon as possible.

Try contacting your partner via private message and setup a time to meet in the chatroom for the match. If you send a private message and receive no reply in 3-4 days, send me a message and I will try to contact them myself, I'd I get no reply then you will win by default.

In the case of unbearable lag or other issues outside of both players control, I will flip a coin to decide to moves on.

Good luck!

Really Illuvial? The point of a bracket is to put people who are good away from eachother, not first round.
We're the only people who have really been on smashboards for a while it seems. (Besides geof) >_>

This is how I interpreted your comment.
"Really illuvial? I wanted to stomp people who are new rather than have a challenge".

Besides, I am not that great in my opinion. You seem to act as though the only way to be good at Smash is to own an account on Smashboards.

I randomized the bracket, it is ok. This is supposed to be more for fun and as a positive learning experience for newer competitive smashers anyways.

And as for our match, I will not be free today, but the rest of the weekend should work fine.

Also, please remember to post who won each round as well as what character you were both using for each round

It's like having a bunch of mediocre players, and then like, nairo vs ally first or second round.
Also, when there are like 6 people that all join smashboards on the same week and have 1 post, I would think they're new. (Speaking of which, are these irl friends or something that you convinced to join? They've only posted on here)

Idk, something about you seemed like you had been very experienced.
Oh and what are we doing with that chat? Like, no one goes on it so...
