My Doubts would be regarding Marth, Bowser Jr. and Midna+Wolf Link... and some obvious still-in-doubt additions: Geno, Skapon, Takamaru, Isaac... well you know.

10 Female Characters... (including alternate costume for Pokémon Trainer)
32 Male Characters...

42 is the Lucky Number... though there are 46 characters if you count Sheik, Zamus and the Pokémon Trainer TAG team.

It won't get any bigger than this... it would be far too many. I'm pretty sure there are FAR too many right now in this list.

Opinions plz.

I think WW Link (probably named Young Link in the game) is far more appealing for the representation of the series. Though probably both could get a spot there. I'm just saying WW Link has more priority since he's more popular, and has appeared in more games.

wow!!! That's nearly the exact roster I've predicted. The only difference in my roster is "Megaman OR Bomberman OR neither). Everything else seems to be right on. I also question Takamaru and Sukapon's chances (I hope they're in).

Cecil, Terra, Bart, Squall, Zidane, Cloud, Ramza, Titus? No...it was random Fighter, Thief, BlackBelt, BlackMage, WhiteMage, and RedMage because they were in the first game. Arguably, Cloud is probably the most popular...but what about Chocobos, Moogles, or Cid for that matter, who show up in a greater quantity of games?

Simple enough - because he's the character most likely to be associated with the franchise. There's also plenty of other minor reasons (for example, he was the main character in the short-lived FE anime), but that's the reason I support most.

In response to your other question, that's undeniably Cloud. He's very likely the most popular FF lead, and as such he's the character that will most often be associated with FF, making him the face.

On topic, other than WW Link (Midna would be better, IMO), this list is pretty close to how I expect the Brawl roster will turn out (NOTE: I've never played Twilight Princess and before this board, had no idea who Sukapon and Takamaru were)

Bowser JR isn't exactly prominent, and Geno is notoriously requested by many. What's the final character count supposed to be anyway? I read somewhere it's 40-50, but that was a while ago and haven't heard anything since.

The Mii may be a lame idea, but I don't think it's out of the question. Mii's are going to become a staple of Nintendo history, and I can understand some people wanting to play as "themselves" but I don't think it's a good idea to throw this in than a character that people are actually clamoring for.

Lol, without Marth, you wouldn't have any FE. He's the main character of the game that started the series. He established the lord archetype, which has been copied again and again from game to game. In Japan, he's extremely retro-famous. Who cares what the USA thinks? Srsly, it's all about Japan yo.

Geno is neither retro enough nor does he star in enough games to be playable in Brawl. I just don't get why he has so much freaking support when he's almost nonexistent in today's world of games. >_>

Bowser Jr on the other hand looks really likely, since Diddy Kong is paired up with DK. He's been getting some pretty important roles in recent Mario games.

Sakurai has stated that he doesn't consider Geno to be third party, thus, Square Enix can have another representative.

Okay...

1. Geno is more widely requested than Bowser Jr, AND has been directly referenced to by Sakurai more. It doesn't matter their relevance to the series, but rather fan interest and the interest of Sakurai himself (Oh, hello there Sheik!). The infamous "poll" shows Geno right-smack in between THREE confirmed characters and a solid spot at the top.

2. Once again, it's not about what Square wants, but what Sakurai wants. If he goes to Square and asks for Geno, he leaves with Geno, regardless what Square says. Also, the 2nd and 1/2 ownership theory means that Square ownership might not even be an issue. Plus, there is no such thing as "company reps". Snake got in not as a Konami rep, but because of Kojima's love of the SSB series. Sonic got in because he's extremely relavant to Nintendo's history as being the first worthy rival to the company's main games.

3. Bowser Jr. is a relatively new character who will continue to appear in future games. This is pretty much Geno's last chance to get back into the gaming scene, and would serve as a great throwback to not only the start of Mario's RPG career, but the age of SNES RPGs in general, and that's not even adding the excellent fanservice it would provide.

4. Your Sailor Moon comment is a very smelly red herring. Sailor Moon doesn't even have a remote chance. Geno has a fairly decent one that continues to improve as the available characters to choose from shrinks.
