The Officially Unofficial Solid Snake Video Thread

Ok so I decided to organize the Snake videos online better and more accessibly so that my fellow Snake players could find what they are looking for here. There is already an official video thread for Snake (http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=140850) and I would highly recommend that you check it out; it does however, lack the breakdown and analysis of each video, but the volume of footage is spectacular. These videos will not only be gameplay, but also tutorials of advanced techniques, strategies and tactics, and other cool Snake related visual media.

Submit your videos here are they will be added to the list and labeled with descriptions. I will also break the videos apart by category and original date posted online. If you want a video of a certain matchup, pro player, technique, etc. just PM me or drop a comment on the wall of this thread and I will find what you are looking for.

Be forewarned, I will include in my descriptions of each video, the winner of each match, so if you don't want to know, don't read it.

Also, this thread will be in development for a long time since I will be watching every video and writing a description of it before I post anything on this thread. Bear with me not posting 100 links all at the same time.

I. Tournament Footage

1 v. 1

Champ (Snake) vs Psycho ****** (Snake) 1 of 3 - Final Destination: 3 Stock
- Posted 2/18/2008. This match is a Snake ditto, the first in a best of 3 set, it is an early post but the mortar slide is used by both players throughout the match. Nice grenade kill by Champ at 1:30. Nothing else too special, but a good display of tactics for a Snake ditto. Champ Wins 3-2

Champ (Snake) vs Psycho ****** (Snake) 2 of 3 - Lylat Cruise: 3 Stock
- Posted 2/18/2008. This is another Snake ditto, the second in a best of 3 set. Note the nice use of the platforms on this level as well as Champ's situational, yet strategic use of the forward smash. Champ Wins 3-2

DSF (Olimar) vs Champ (Snake) Losers 4 of 5 - Frigate Orpheon: 3 Stock
- Posted 2/19/2008. This is a good match against one of Snake's better counters, Olimar. Be aware of the pressuring done by Champ during the first stock, it is his best efforts before being wrecked by DSF. After that, his playstyle gets too predictable and he spends too much time in the air and off the side of the stage. Also take note of Olimar's grabs and aerials, they destroy Snake. DSF Wins 3-2

DSF (Olimar) vs Champ (Snake) Losers 3 of 5 - Final Destination: 3 Stock
- Posted 2/19/2008. Another match between Snake and Olimar; DSF wreaks havoc on Snake with his down throw to fair. Take note of how little edgegaurding Champ does, Olimar's recovery is way too easy to gimp for that to not be taken advantage of. Also see Snake break Olimar's shield at 1:35. Also check out the last kill by Olimar to end the match with a forward throw. DSF Wins 3-2

DSF (Olimar) vs Champ (Snake) Losers 2 of 5 - Final Destination: 3 Stock
- Posted 2/19/2008. One of Champ's better matches against DSF, this shows the importance of pressuring Olimar and not trying to camp against him. Thinks to note: Snake's up air for the second kill kills Olimar at around 85%, Snake gets killed in his recovery as a result of not air dodging Olimar's fair. Champ Wins 3-2

DSF (Olimar) vs Champ (Snake) Losers 1 of 5 - Lylat Cruise: 3 Stock
- Posted 2/19/2008. A very nice match against DSF's nasty Olimar, Champ does an admirable job pressuring Olimar. Take note of how Champ uses the platforms and grenades to keep Olimar from getting grounded. Champ's success in this match centers mostly on his ability to minimize the number of times Olimar grabs him. Champ Wins 3-2

Lee (Snake) vs Hylian (Bowser) - Smashville: 3 Stock
- Posted 2/11/2008. A very nice match between Snake and Bowser. Lee keeps the pressure on Bowser superbly well and is also able to avoid many of his more powerful killing moves. Pay attention to Lee's use of the stage and pressuring, they are quite good. Also take not of his repeated and expert use of Snake's throwing game, something that is less frequently used by many people than it should be. Lee Wins 3-1

Psycho ****** (Snake) vs Doppleganger (Zelda) 2 of 3 - Green Greens: 3 Stock
- Posted 2/18/2008. A great match between Zelda and Snake; look for the nice kill by Psycho ****** at 1:00 with a bair and his bair recovery at 1:25. Also check out the ridiculous last kill by ****** with a nair on the edge of the stage. Psycho ****** Wins 3-2

Psycho ****** (Snake) vs Doppleganger (Zelda) 1 of 3 - Battlefield: 3 Stock
- Posted 2/18/2008. One of the nicer matches out there, this fight has got it all: terrific tech chasing game and linking down throws together, excellent trap setting, inspiring nikita edgegaurding, and a kills with a down smash at 1:20 and a nair on the edge at 2:57. For people having trouble approaching Zelda with Din's Fire spam, watch this video for excellent examples of dash shielding, side stepping, and air dodging on the approach. Psycho ****** Wins 3-1
