It's main use. EQ + SE for coverage, and then there's Ice Fang for strong STAB, Ice Shard to quickly kill dragons and such, Peck solely for Heracross, and Bite for Dusknoir/Cresselia/other Ghosts and Psychics. The items that are listed are benefical in every way. Choice Band to hurt almost everything with 2nd most powerful Earthquake in the game, Life Orb wouldn't hurt the opponent as much, but you can choose your attacks, or use Choice Scarf and Jolly to try outspeeding Heracross and from there it's an eat or be eaten game. But if you want to outpace Adamant Heracross for sure, go Jolly with 200 or so EVS. If Heracross is Jolly and Scarfed, let's just hope you know ahead of time.

-Earthquake
-Ice Shard/Stone Edge
-Avalanche/Stone Edge
Here's that expected "Curseswine". Curse away, then attack. Earthquake is standard, then use Stone Edge for coverage, Ice Shard to ignore Curse's speed drop, or Avalanche to take advantage of the speed drop.

It's novelty, but whatever. Put up a barrier, or Stealth Rock them and Roar. Eartquake's there, and that other attack is up to you.
COUNTERS
Although Mamoswine has massive HP and one of the best type-covering STAB attacks in the game, it's defenses aren't nothing above average, so anything super-effective will hurt. Heracross will kill you when given the chance, that is, if you lack Peck. Gyarados is knida iffy with countering, but has Intimidate, immunity to Earthquake, and STAB Waterfall. Also, special sweepers in general counter Mamoswine. Sorry, forgot to mention Aqua Jet to get that first hit in Mamoswine (but what OU pokemon uses it?)
Bronzong resists all from Mamoswine, if you leave Bite out of there. Then, it can Gyro Ball/Grass Knot you into oblivion, as wel as Mesprit and Cresselia. So can Infernape, but he would rather use Close Combat. Skarmory's immune to Earthquake and phazes the Curse set. Weezing and Dusknoir just have that high defense like Skarmory and more, such as Will-o-wisp, Fire Blast/Flamethrower (I talk of Weezing here), and Pain Split to take advantage of your rather high HP before smearing your head on a wall, that is, if you're up against Dusknoir and you have Bite in your utility belt.
CONTENT SECTION
Mamoswine is a great pokemon to use if your team lacks a dragon killer, and packs more than one punch. Has great coverage as well, not mentioning that it rids of a lot of threats that could otherwise own your team.
Helps Ghost pokemon get in because of Fighting weakness. Works well with Yanmega, Gyarados, and any Water or Flying type for that matter. It would also like some Speed Baton Passed to it, as that only makes it more of a threat.
