.:DRAKE:.
Smash Apprentice
First off let me make this so very, very clear:
i) I don't care if you don't like the Final Fantasy series
ii) I don't care that the chances of Locke making the cut in Brawl is roughly 0.00034%
iii) Again, I don't care if you don't like the Final Fantasy series
I say this, because I'm well aware most people prefer not to use "Square" and "Brawl" in the same sentence. But know that this character idea isn't as crazy as some of the others I've read.
Bah.
Put short, Locke is the main character of Final Fantasy VI (well him and Terra), a game widely considered to be one of the SNES's finest titles.
Note, I said SNES not PS. I'm well aware of the bad blood between Nintendo and Square Enix, but note that this game came out originally on the SNES (however a remake for the PS was made a lot later). Final Fantasy VI has also recently been remade for the GBA.
Yay.
Now to the business end:
The following is a basic moves list I designed for the charismatic dagger-wielding "Treasure Hunter". Note the emphasis is placed on his skill with daggers, and so I’ve tried to keep references to other Final Fantasy abilities and techniques to a minimum.
Pimpin' picture, no?
Locke Cole
Height - 4/5
Weight - 3/5
Jump - 4/5
Range - 2/5
Speed - 4/5
Power - 2/5
Standard Attacks:
(A) = Forehand Slice (4%)
(A), (A) = Backhand Slice (4%)
(A), (A), (A)… = Dagger Flurry (2%)
Running + (A) = Take-down Kick (10%)
(A) + → = Lunging Slash (10%)
(A) + ↑ = Hi-kick (8%)
(A) + ↓ = Cheap-Shot Swipe (12%)
(A) + →| = Sword Dance (Up to 20%)
(A) + ↑| = Back flip-Kick (Up to 18%)
(A) + ↓| = Spinning Blades (Up to 22%)
Grapple Attacks:
(A), (A), (A)… Gut Punch (3%)
(A) + → = Fire (7%)
Locke headbutts his target into stumbling backwards, and then bombards him/her with 3 small fireballs.
(A) + ↑ = Thunder (8%)
Locke tosses his target into the air and then casts Thunder on his airborne target.
(A) + ← = Blizzard (10%)
Locke shifts himself behind his target and kicks them in the back, before he casts Blizzard on the target and smashes him/her with icicles.
(A) + ↓ = Eviscerate (8%)
Locke stabs his target at point blank range, making him/her drop to the ground stunned for a few seconds.
Special Attacks:
(B) + ↓ = Switch Weapon:
Locke has a total of three weapons which he can cycle between using this. The three daggers have unique properties:
i) Thief Dagger: Allows Locke to use the “Mug” special ability. Does not affect melee attacks or melee damage.
ii) Hawkeye: Allows Locke to use the “Sniper” special ability. Does not affect melee attacks or melee damage.
iii) Twin Daggers: When equipped, Locke becomes unable to use any special attacks, except “Switch Weapon”. However wielding two daggers instead of on, these weapons enhance Locke’s melee combat altering his melee moves list slightly and allowing him to attack faster.
(B) Standard Special Attack:
When Thief’s Dagger is equipped: (B) = Mug (15%)
Locke pounces forward onto an enemy within four feet, knocking the target over and stealing any item the target was carrying.
When Hawkeye is equipped: (B) = Sniper (Up to 14%)
Locke steadies his aim with the Hawkeye while the button is held. When released he throws his dagger like a boomerang, where the distance travelled and the damage dealt depends on the duration the (B) button is held. If the (B) button is tapped again while the Hawkeye is airborne, Locke equips his Thief’s Dagger.
(B) + → = Brigand Hand (14%)
In one extremely fast and fluid movement Locke dashes forward about 15 feet at lightning speed, damaging all enemies in his path. However, there is no knock back effect and none of the affected enemies flinch, this attack simply deals damage. It can be used in quick succession, but cannot be used if Twin Daggers are equipped.
(B) + ↑ = Jump (18%):
An ability featured in many FF games, used in particular by the Dragoon class. Locke flips into a high arc and then drops down violently on top of enemies, dagger first. Cannot be used with the Twin Daggers
Final Smash = Flames of Rebirth (Phoenix Summon)
Locke summons the Esper “Phoenix”. The legendary bird flies over the stage left to right releasing fireballs that damage enemies slightly. Locke is healed to 0% damage (giving him an extra life as such).
Misc:
Taunt: “No Mercy for the Empire!”
Locke tosses his dagger up and then catches it.
Kirby Costume:
Kirby wears Locke’s bandana
Alternative Costumes:
Bah who cares, like he’s going to make it to Brawl anyway.
Again, I don't care if he doesn't make the cut... but it would be mighty cool if he did.
