First off let me make this so very, very clear:
i) I don't care if you don't like the Final Fantasy series
ii) I don't care that the chances of Locke making the cut in Brawl is roughly 0.00034%
iii) Again, I don't care if you don't like the Final Fantasy series

I say this, because I'm well aware most people prefer not to use "Square" and "Brawl" in the same sentence. But know that this character idea isn't as crazy as some of the others I've read.

Bah.

Put short, Locke is the main character of Final Fantasy VI (well him and Terra), a game widely considered to be one of the SNES's finest titles.

Note, I said SNES not PS. I'm well aware of the bad blood between Nintendo and Square Enix, but note that this game came out originally on the SNES (however a remake for the PS was made a lot later). Final Fantasy VI has also recently been remade for the GBA.

Yay.

Now to the business end:

The following is a basic moves list I designed for the charismatic dagger-wielding "Treasure Hunter". Note the emphasis is placed on his skill with daggers, and so I’ve tried to keep references to other Final Fantasy abilities and techniques to a minimum.

Pimpin' picture, no?

Locke Cole

Height - 4/5
Weight - 3/5
Jump - 4/5
Range - 2/5
Speed - 4/5
Power - 2/5

Standard Attacks:
(A) = Forehand Slice (4%)
(A), (A) = Backhand Slice (4%)
(A), (A), (A)… = Dagger Flurry (2%)

Running + (A) = Take-down Kick (10%)

(A) + → = Lunging Slash (10%)
(A) + ↑ = Hi-kick (8%)
(A) + ↓ = Cheap-Shot Swipe (12%)

(A) + →| = Sword Dance (Up to 20%)
(A) + ↑| = Back flip-Kick (Up to 18%)
(A) + ↓| = Spinning Blades (Up to 22%)

Grapple Attacks:
(A), (A), (A)… Gut Punch (3%)
(A) + → = Fire (7%)
Locke headbutts his target into stumbling backwards, and then bombards him/her with 3 small fireballs.
(A) + ↑ = Thunder (8%)
Locke tosses his target into the air and then casts Thunder on his airborne target.
(A) + ← = Blizzard (10%)
Locke shifts himself behind his target and kicks them in the back, before he casts Blizzard on the target and smashes him/her with icicles.
(A) + ↓ = Eviscerate (8%)
Locke stabs his target at point blank range, making him/her drop to the ground stunned for a few seconds.

Special Attacks:
(B) + ↓ = Switch Weapon:
Locke has a total of three weapons which he can cycle between using this. The three daggers have unique properties:
i) Thief Dagger: Allows Locke to use the “Mug” special ability. Does not affect melee attacks or melee damage.
ii) Hawkeye: Allows Locke to use the “Sniper” special ability. Does not affect melee attacks or melee damage.
iii) Twin Daggers: When equipped, Locke becomes unable to use any special attacks, except “Switch Weapon”. However wielding two daggers instead of on, these weapons enhance Locke’s melee combat altering his melee moves list slightly and allowing him to attack faster.

(B) Standard Special Attack:
When Thief’s Dagger is equipped: (B) = Mug (15%)
Locke pounces forward onto an enemy within four feet, knocking the target over and stealing any item the target was carrying.
When Hawkeye is equipped: (B) = Sniper (Up to 14%)
Locke steadies his aim with the Hawkeye while the button is held. When released he throws his dagger like a boomerang, where the distance travelled and the damage dealt depends on the duration the (B) button is held. If the (B) button is tapped again while the Hawkeye is airborne, Locke equips his Thief’s Dagger.

(B) + → = Brigand Hand (14%)
In one extremely fast and fluid movement Locke dashes forward about 15 feet at lightning speed, damaging all enemies in his path. However, there is no knock back effect and none of the affected enemies flinch, this attack simply deals damage. It can be used in quick succession, but cannot be used if Twin Daggers are equipped.

(B) + ↑ = Jump (18%):
An ability featured in many FF games, used in particular by the Dragoon class. Locke flips into a high arc and then drops down violently on top of enemies, dagger first. Cannot be used with the Twin Daggers

Final Smash = Flames of Rebirth (Phoenix Summon)
Locke summons the Esper “Phoenix”. The legendary bird flies over the stage left to right releasing fireballs that damage enemies slightly. Locke is healed to 0% damage (giving him an extra life as such).

Misc:
Taunt: “No Mercy for the Empire!”
Locke tosses his dagger up and then catches it.

Kirby Costume:
Kirby wears Locke’s bandana

Alternative Costumes:
Bah who cares, like he’s going to make it to Brawl anyway. :p

Again, I don't care if he doesn't make the cut... but it would be mighty cool if he did.

I like Locke. Only problem is that there are several main characters. It's just as arguable that Celes is a main character as Locke and Terra. And even some reasonable arguments for Edgar.

Given that more females are apparently wanted, I'd rate Celes or Terra as higher chances. This is why I prefer Kefka as a choice. Iconic villain and there's nobody to compete with him for which FFVI villain should get in.

But the moveset is really kick-***. I love the weapon swap. And I thank you for not hinting at the ridiculous Atma 8-attack 9999 stunt...

Yeah...
...he definitely won't be in brawl.

But he looks cool, and great presentation and move set.

In your mind!
I am only commenting on the picture, I rather the Overworld/Sprite form of Lock to be based off, although In my opinion the people that are slightly more likly are Kefka and Terran due to they are the main character/villian...

Thankyou Vagrant Lustoid, skullkidd and Chickenboy666 for your kind words. I have added you all to my Christmas card list. Addresses my be an issue, but now I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

But seriously, hey I only did this presentation just cause, well, nobody else did. If anybody has any other new character ideas, PM me and I'll look into making them a presentation.

Preferably a game series I like. ;)

A tad off-topic. And you spelt "fail" wrong.

If you want to take this up with me, you can PM me or something.

But know that I probably won't be bothered to reply.

Bah. Kefka for Brawl! I've already made his moveset. Actually, I'm tempted now to try to make movesets for all the main characters... Terra would be a combo mage-sword user, with a Shiek-like transformation, and Celes a clone of Terra, replacing the transformation with Runic.

And others like Sabin, Edgar and Setzer all have great, fun abilities that could make great movesets. FFVI for Brawl!

Why on earth would you want a clone? Terra would make a great Final Smash if she transformed, but Celes is pretty dull IMO

Kefka is an excellent idea, yes... and considering that Final Fantasy VI has too many protagonists (all 3 of them), if any one character from the game makes the cut, it'll most likely be Kefka followed by Terra

In saying that though, I'd still give Kefka about a 0.001% chance.

It would be amusing however if his Final Smash was where he transformed into his true form, becoming 4 storeys of entangled faces and limbs and pure awesome.

Locke seems like a perfect alternative for Cloud and Sephiroth lovers. Since Final Fantasy is such a popular franchise and since they are wanting some third party characters to be included in the brawl and since Final Fantasy 7 and up aren't on a Nintendo system and since Locke is arguably the main character of FF6 (along with Terra but she honestly doesnt fit the sterotypical main character role) and since FF6 has recently been released on the GBA. Yes I will give him at least a 4% chance of being in brawl.

Actually I could see it now...! Final Fantasy assist trophies with chocobo inside them. Awsome Final Fantasy stages and MUSIC! Oh man I usually hate the Final Fantasy series because of its RPG format but I simply love the story, characters, music, and setting of the game. Man it would be the best thing in the world if they implemented Final Fantasy stuff in ssbb.

Now I know what you may be thinking its not likely but remember this was Snake likely? Anything could happen!

What if the creator of Final Fantasy asked Sakurai to add Final Fantasy into SSBM but Sakurai was already close to done with the game so he waited until the next installment and added it then? What if!!!!????
