The weekends get a bit boring, so I thought that I would make a commentary on some of the more overlooked portions of the game: the music. For me, being a musician, I enjoy the music greatly. So I have decided to take a deeper look at one of the older music updates:

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Medley

Song of Storms:

The strings take over and give a soring melody that gives the image of wide open plains. The snare and shakers continue to play in the background. As the strings take off the brass gives the up-beats ans drives the tempo forward. This gives the imagery of the Hylian fields that Link traveled on.

Epona's Song:

The strings take over and give a soring melody that gives the image of wide open plains. The snare and shakers continue to play in the background. As the strings take off the brass gives the up-beats ans drives the tempo forward. This gives the imagery of the Hylian fields that Link traveled on.

Song of Time:

The song is completely rearranged. The quarters at the end have been turned to eights, and the tempo has been kicked up. It could be said that the selection was "marching band-ified" if you catch my drift. The melody is found in the low brass. The background contains the snare and shaker still along cords by a piano. The music is now like a fanfare in comparison to the chants heard in the Temple of Time. This section sets the mood for the next one.

Saria's Song:

This 'movement' of the selection has been completely redone. The fickle tune has been turned into a very war-like piece. The melody comes from the low brass still with a trumpet on top. The snare and shaker are gone and in its place is the rumble of a bass drum and bass voice. Along with it the strings have dramatic running lines that continue to give the song momentum until it get to the climax of the song with an entire orchestrated sound.

Zelda's Lullaby:

After the tension of the last few movements, the final tune relieves it. The piccolo/ocarina gets the melody again along with the starting instruments in the aftermath of the battle.

There are also bridges between the different portions of the song. The Bolero of Fire is present at one point in the begining.

Hope you all enjoyed reading. I'll be posting more music topics soon!

You're deep into music if you can tell all the insturments just by listening to it. I haven't even noticed the piano before you said something about it. The OoT Medley is my favorite on the site so far, and thats not because I am a Zelda fan. I'm looking forward to the whole song (hope a sax makes it in there).

A sax would be cool. (I wonder where it would fit...*music brain starts thinking*) Thanks for the compliment. I have only been playing for five years. I still have a lot to figure out.

This thread is different. The thread you link to does nothing but state the music, with links to a recording, my thread goes in depth, and explains the instrumentations, and effects of it. The two threads are not comparable.

All right, I suppose you have a point. Even still, if you actually DO decide to continue with this idea, keep it in the same thread, please. There is absolutely no need to do this for every single song and at the same time clutter the forum with thread after thread, if you get my point.

It's a nice idea, but I think it would be most wise to keep it neat and concise.

Agreed, you should edit the title of the thread and put all your song reviews in one thread.
But yeh, good stuff. I myself am a musician so I'm inlove with the tracks Sakurai gives us, so keep it up. I like the idea.

Thanks for the support everyone. I make them in here to keep the boards clean. The next will be the Metroid music. I am starting to update it now.

There's already numerous topics for discussing the songs, both specifically and in general.
