Recently we've been shown tons of Ω Stages, for those who don't know Ω Stages are the "Final Destination" version of stages. Here is the list of the ones that were recently shown:

As you can see, the only visible difference between them seems to be the length of the stage and the actual base itself. Examples are that Ω Paper Mario seems way smaller than Ω Yoshi's Island. And the fact that Ω Living Room has walls that prevent you from getting under the stage while Ω Rainbow Road is completely empty. Possibly allowing you to actually jump through the bottom. So there is going to be small gameplay changes, even though they are all based off of Final Destination.

Most of you know that Final Destination, while considered the most known stage in Smash, it isn't the best for competitive play. Not to say it isn't played in Competitive, but it is far from the most balanced. The reason this is that projectile characters have an easier time on these stages, and characters with good aerials suffer since there are not any platforms.

You are probably thinking this post is complaining about that they should have made all of these β Stages, or Battlefield based stages. Since Battlefield is considered one of, if not the most balanced stages in Smash. While true, this isn't any better than the Ω Stages. It doesn't add any major gameplay variation.

What I purpose is Δ Stages, or Delta Stages. They would have the same base as the Ω Stages, but they would have variances in platforms for each stage.

Not just the classic Triangle Platforms either, like Battlefield. I mean completely new and unique ways to place platforms around the stage. Like maybe Paper Mario could of had one platform on the right side, while no platform on the left. Maybe Boxing Ring could of had Platforms similar to Pokemon Stadium. Or even 3D Land could have moving platforms like Smashville.

While it would take work, copy and pasting platforms in unique ways would take a lot less work than creating tons of new legal stages. If Delta Stages were to happen like I suggested, everyone would be happy. Casuals can still enjoy the crazy hazards and fun stuff that can be had, while the Competitive Smashers can play on all of the legal stages that would add something new to gameplay.

Obviously this will NOT happen, especially this late into development. I just wanted to state what could have been, and how it was a missed opportunity.

Would be nice. Still leaves out characters who like having some diagonal approaches, but most of stages with a slight slant get banned offhand anyway.

That said, with the game's apparent shift towards making ground and air equally good for fighting, it remains to be seen whether or not FD or Battlefield will still be considered "most fair".

Eh, Final Destination is still best for "competitive" and no lag. It was a good decision

True. Anyway, about your opinion on diagonal approaches.

There always could be actual diagonal platforms. That would be interesting.

My main complaint isn't that Final Destination was the one to get reskins. I noted that when I mentioned battlefield. I believe they missed an opportunity by not giving these stages unique platform placements.

I love your idea, but I think the main reason Final Destination forms were chosen only is because the stage was extremely popular in Brawl online play. I'm not in disagreement with your idea though. In defense, this is the first time something like this has been done for a Smash game, so I think this concept will be expanded on if there are future games.

I'm against this only because these would end up being the only tournament legal stages, or at least most of them. I like having a lot of variety in stage lists. It's been pretty much nonexistent in Melee for the past several years and is dwindling in Brawl, although we still have Halberd and Castle Siege. It would turn out to be exactly like what's happened in PM.

No, they didn't miss an oppurtunity at all. If they gonna add platforms ""randomly""(each FD different simple platforms) they could easily put the normal stages. The extrem FD solution is therefore in my honest opinion superior

If there was an option for this I'd rather it just be like the final destination stages but for battlefield.

I wouldn't mind having a simple version of each stage. Just a couple of platforms with a variety of configurations.
I'm sure I won't get bored of the stages we have, though. Most of them look pretty good. I like the Paper Mario one in particular.

Not really. In competitive Melee every other of the 5 neutral stages with the exception of Fountain of Dreams is generally preferred over Final Destination, those 3 stages being Dreamland 64, Battlefield, and Yoshi's Island. These 3 stages are all probably more neutral than Final Destination, especially Battlefield (despite its' design flaws).

In Brawl Battlefield and Smashville are also generally more well liked than Final Destination, and are more neutral in competitive play.
