Hi, guys. In anticipation of tonights update I checked one of the Japanese site's I've been following and noticed a mention of Mr. Sakurai appearing on the newest Hidechan Radio to talk about the reopenning of the Smash Bros. Dojo!! There's only so much Excite can do so I was wondering if someone could translate this blog's summary of what was said. (I don't think it's a whole lot of new information but I was just curious just in case.)

Guys, you just can use a japanese to english translator, which may make gibberish most of the time but the main purpose of the text is not that hard to pick.

But basically, the interview talks about DOJO and how important is to Smash today, revealing bits of info for the fans. Then talks about MGS4 and arranging a piece of MGS4 called "Love's Theme" for Brawl. All stages may have more than 1 tune. "Calling to the Night" is being arranged for Brawl, lyrics included (it's a MGS OPS song).

This is what I could get. Translators are lame.

with my very limited japanese from school, i managed to get:

"It is sakurai's blue (?)

exactly yesterday, smash brothers occurred (?). however, a point was raised about smash brothers, and that is what is written about here"

you mean i looked up all those words just for an introduction? aargh!

i might do a bit more if im bothered

EDIT: next bit starts with "grasshopper, by the way grasshopper and what is it lending?"
wtf? and it definitely says grasshopper, because that bit is romanised
i give up.

Grasshopper is a Japanese developer company which made games like Killer 7, Contact, Blood+ or the coming No Heroes, they have a composer from Grasshopper for Brawl so it has to be that.

Ah, Kimarhi of Gamefaqs translated it. Here was the post:

OK, I looked through it (I admit somewhat quickly).

As a note, it was somewhat hard for me to follow because parts of the interview are excised.

Sakurai talks about how they got various composers. Basically the entire thing is about music actually. He seems to say they'll be using an arranged version of the "Theme of Love" (Ai no Teema) from Metal Gear Solid 4. Someone (Kojima I assume?) mentions a Metal Gear piece of music called "Calling to the Night" that's popular in the series (I'm not a Metal Gear buff <<). He says either it seems like they will, or he's heard that they will, (not sure how to interpret it) use it in Smash Brothers. Sakurai affirms that he'll be updating "day by day, little by little." For his final word, he says to people to please anticipate the game.

Nothing really interesting besides the Metal Gear music, unless I misread / missed something.

So we got some more confirmed info when it comes to music. Im interested in hearing these pieces...

I read it all, and nothing is really important. Most of the time Sakurai is talking about what composers are going to be in the game, and basically that Nintendo used to do all the music, but now, just for SSBB, Nintendo is actually inviting all these different composers to come in and do some songs.

And oddly enough, they have a computer and cable internet in the temple Im doing the homestay in, so Ill be able to help until around Saturday when I leave for Tokyo.

Thanks GenG. :)
It's interesting to hear what sort of stuff I can expect from Brawl.

EDIT: That track is incredible! I hope they use it in Brawl!

yeah since the song is kinda slow, it will be epic to fight to. a real change of pace. reminds me of the snake eater song. I thought it was dumb at first, but I gotta say it gave me a chill to hear it climbing up that ladder and then later when you are walking toward the final boss.

I liked that song from Snake Eater. It's so James Bond-esque.

I also liked the songs from Sons of Liberty. I don't know what it was called, but it had a really epic feeling to it.

OMG! Calling to The Night sounds so beautiful. Battling with it playing seems kind of weird, but I guess that's because I'm used to battling with SSBM-like music going on.

The music/list of composers in Brawl alone are making me really excited for Brawl ^_^
