Let's discuss the ideal controller, let me hear your ideas. It's alright, feel free to go crazy with ideas.

The GC one is far from perfect, these are some of the things I've found generally bothersome and that the upcoming Wii U controller could fix:

-Durability issues/Parts wearing down such as:
  1. The control stick becoming too loose
  2. L/R-triggers getting 'stuck'
  3. Z-button becoming inresponsive
-Dirt getting into the controller due to the controller not being properly 'sealed'.
This is a common cause for malfunction, especially with the trigger buttons.
-Lack of proper grip (especially nice for people with sweaty hands)
-The need for a special tri-wing to open the controller (unlikely to change though)
-Relatively small size (I have large hands and have found bigger third party controllers much nicer to hold size-wise)

Now my ideal controller would:

-Be shaped very similarly to the GC one (obviously)
-Be bit larger in size. Perhaps even two models (small & large). In general the handles of the controller ought to be longer for better grip.
-Be more durable than it's GC counterpart.
  1. Possibly other materials than mere plastic
  2. Rubber sealing to prevent dirt from getting into the controller.
  3. Instead of internal parts being loose they could be firmly attached to the internal structure. In general I would like the controller to wear down less.
-Be easily customizable
  1. Space for gamer-tag (e.g. a plate for laser carving)
  2. Material that would allow for more easier time to paint it
  3. Adjustment of the tighteness/looseness of various parts such as the control stick, L/R-triggers, B-button...
  4. Open design for custom parts
  5. Adjustment of the weight of the controller
-USB-connector for PC/Dolphin use
-Audio jack port for game audio
-SD Card slot for MP3s
-A Mini-LCD for swag
-A Coffee maker for nightly friendlies and a washing machine for dirty smashers.

Somewhere magical
My ideal controller is quite simple.

No springs for the L/R triggers but still keeping them pressure sensitive and their current shape.

Another Z button above the L trigger.

And allow me to customize my controls for Melee to get the perfect set-up for me.

Everything else is the same with the GCC.

I might as well post this question here, what's with all the Gamecube controllers with that black joystick? Looks like a PS2 joystick or something. Is that just a Socal thing or do you guys know what I'm talking about?
