the ic smash

i have seen this done and i have done it before.
One ice climber will be hold the opponent while the other is charging a smash and boom...
how come sometimes i throw the opponent while im still charging. Its probably my timing but is there any tips on how to do it?

Instead of charging a smash like you normally would, do Z + Cstick in the direction you want to smash. Hold down Z to charge the smash.
