I don't know if I can deal with this again.

Since may of 06, I've been dealing with the wonderment and worry of whether my favorite characters will make it into Brawl. Will past favorites like Marth, Ness and Falcon make it in? Will Newcomers like Geno, Midna, and Meta-Knight be available to me in this new version. I had hopes for Wario to be in Smash since the 64 version, and almost a decade later, they FINALLY put him in.

But what about next time?

Will the characters I begged to have in Brawl make it into Brawl, only to be cut from the 4th installment? Will I have to worry about characters I'd never dreamed of up to this point infest my hopes and dreams during the development process? I can't answer these questions for Brawl yet, and I know I'm going to have to consider them again. And I don't know if I WANT to do it again.

I guess what I'm saying is, between all the guessing, rumors, mock ups, confirmations and deconfirmations, and sleepless nights wishing for your favorite characters to be in, are you really prepared to go through this again? Or is it worth it to you?

Judging by Iwata Asks, Brawl would've been Melee 2.0 with online slapped on it. So I guess it would be Brawl 2.0? =O

Hopefully Sakurai at least finds his replacement if this is his last game. I've wondered how a Miyamoto headed Smash Bros would play.

You're going to enjoy the game when it comes out, regardless of which characters are in. Sakurai can't please every little fanboy hoping for their favorite characters to be in.

Seriously, it's not all about you; if you don't want to do it anymore, then don't.

I truly hope this is the last one. Period.
Not because of how the net handles it or anything but because Sakurai just wants to stop making sequels.

...And who can blame the guy? Forced to revive IP's just because the "Fan base is starving and it will sell" and not because "I want to do this" can be harsh.

Treasure was on to something back in the day when sequels were never done by them...Now the only thing they do is rehash everything...>_>;;

...That and this game truly would be the epic of epic if this really was the "last one".

There won't be a SSB4, there just won't.

What are you idiots? If this is one of Nitendo's highest selling franchises, they WILL make another one without Sukarai. For thosethat have ben working at HAL, and have worked on 3 Smashes, heading one on their own would not be a big deal!

If you think this is the last Smash, your not that bright.

After Brawl comes out, we'll be looking back at this with fond memories, trust me. While the hype has been a bit stressful, it's all part of the game coming out, and we'll look back and laugh. I wouldn't object to "going through it" again. I'm more worried that there will even be a 4th Smash Bros game.

But if Sakurai had any sensem then the room for a bigger character roster would make certain that all the Melee characters come back, even Dr Mario and Pichu, in some form.

Chill out dude, there may not be another Smash after Brawl for a few years. We may be looking at another six years at least until Nintendo releases another concole. I do agree that it has been a huge pain in the *** waiting especially when it's accompanied by poor updates(sometimes the updates are worth it)
If you're worried about your favorite making it into Brawl and not making it in to the fourth depend on the characters fan base and if Marth, Roy, Ness etc. make it into Brawl. Then we'll know if Nintendo is cutting any characters.

First off, I'd like to point out how silly it is that we're worrying about the prospect of a fourth smash bros game when Brawl hasn't even been released yet. Just enjoy the game!

Secondly, I agree with Rhubarbo. Melee was the best selling game on the gamecube, and Brawl is gonna be huge, nintendo will make a sequel. Besides, Sakurai is awesome and everything, but the gaming industry is HUGE and there's plenty of amazing talent to pull from. If Nintendo wants to make another good smash game, they will make another good smash game.

Thirdly, if Brawl comes out and your "favorite character" isn't in and you want to play as them so badly, go play Melee. If the fourth one comes out and it's the same story, play Brawl. If you don't like spending every day wondering whether a character's gonna be in, stop reading about the game and stop looking for confirmations / deconfirmations. You'll forget about it and it won't bother you.

I'll just stick to Brawl when it comes out. I mean, considering I have no idea who I will be in 5-8 years, who gives a **** about SSB4+. Seriously, who cares until we get sick of Brawl?

You seriously shouldn't be worrying about which characters are making it in. It's one of those things you really shouldn't be worrying about, since you don't decide what's in. Besides.. It' just a game :].

You will be much older by then and this should mean less to you. AKA you will grow up some. Not meaning this as a slight.

So...I suppose if there IS a next instalment it'd be on a different console?

That's a long wait.
Then again...

I would't be surprised if they released a brawl deluxe version with new maps and characters a little while form now... updated graphics and stuff to.

I'm right here! What a silly question.

That's not something Nintendo has done to their game franchises, other than release compilation games years after the originals, like Mario All-Stars, Kirby All-Stars (?), and Zelda Master Quest. Such a highly anticipated/rated game like Brawl will not, and rightly should not be so quickly antiquated.

Not to say it would be impossible. Here's a scenario where I see a Brawl 2.0 made for worldwide sale: The Wii continues its mega-success and Nintendo plans to create mods and add-ons to extend the life of the console for, say, 7-9 years. THEN, after 4-5 years since Brawl's original release, and no new console in immediate sight, and when most people really start to get bored with the Smash franchise, it would make sense to make this "Brawl 2.0".

Back on topic . . .

Smash Bros. has been a once-per-console series, and considering the time, money, and personel commitment required to make each game good, I think it will stay that way. On top of that, the nature of the Smash series and huge appeal of each game is being a part compilation, part homage to past games, which requires at least a few years between Smash titles to allow build up on the console of new and fresh content to pull from. So Destruction King's anxiety level won't needlessly rise from Smash Bros 4 for at least quite a few years.

As someone said before, maybe with a few years passing, you gain more maturity and realize games are ultimately played for fun, and inducing psychological pain on yourself over a product of entertainment is unnecessary, to say the least.

A DS Smash sounds intriguing, but the possible control schemes don't seem . . . intuitive? Flexible? If it doesn't use the stylus, you're stuck with the d-pad, which is like using the wiimote, and you know how much everyone who played the demos liked that. :ohwell:
