Been playing the beta for this and it's super fun. I can answer questions if anyone has them. If not, what faction are you planning on joining and what builds are you interested in?

Even since they game was announced I was incredibly iffy about it. From what I played of the beta I wasn't particularly impressed, since it pretty much played exactly like ES5 but with a hot bar.

What I would want from an Elder Scrolls MMO is the ability to completely ignore the main quest and just freely explore the world. I would want to be like, "Hey, those ruins over there look cool," and then actually be able to progress and have a little adventure. After playing WoW and the FF MMOs for years I'm sick of staring at numbers and min-maxing. If I picked up ESO its because I would want an MMO focused on exploring the world at your own pace and just having fun with the game rather than forcing players into some sort of progression. But this is an MMO, Skinner-Box tactics and gear fixations are mandatory.

Plus it makes use of the faction system and I can't be an Imperial. As a life long ES fan, the latter hurts. As someone who has a strong distaste for the faction system, I'm not okay with the former.

Well I have some good news for you!

For one, you only need to do main quest stuff on the starter islands. While it is annoying if you just want to go off and explore, when you do pass them you can really just walk any direction and go exploring. There is a ton of stuff you can do just by exploring, plenty of content and I did this for hours when I played not following a quest line at all. Also, if you pre-order the game you can play any race in any faction and if you get the imperial edition which is $20 more digitally then you can play the Imperial class in any faction. I know it's really, REALLY dumb that imperials are only available in the CE but that is clearly a choice the suits at Zenimax made not the developers :/. Also, you can upgrade your account at any point to the imperial edition so you don't need to buy it right away if you just want to play the game first before putting more money into it.
