The best option against villager aerial spam?

So two days ago I was on For Glory (3DS) and I faced two villagers who would side b then they would jump and shoot their slingshot to cover the opponents jump. I was ZSS and I would down b to get out, and it worked a few times but not a enough because they caught on and just grabbed me after that. While it's smart for them to use their long range, it was annoying because I could barely touch them. Should I just wait for a mistake at this point or do something else? Any ideas?

Blocking. watch their pattern and catch on accordingly. Do they slingshot right after lloid (the rocket)? Do they dash attack after lloid? Etc... Just play safe and watch their actions. Provoke them if they don't do anything.
