GIANT WORK IN PROGRESS!!!!!
Joint project by me, DFEAR, and Ingulit

alright guys, this is a thread which will list *all* the things you can do to combo, mindgame, and kill your opponent with your bananas based on their placement and eventually character and stage specific tactics
I will write a couple, but I need you guys to help think of more, i dont expect this to be done for quite a while :dizzy:

note: this thread doesn't tell you exactly what you should do in each situation, just what some of your options are. You have to find out what works best for you based on your opponent and their tendencies.

This thread will be split into 2 halves - 1 Banana and 2 Bananas
Both categories will be broken down into sub categories based on where your naner(s) are
where it says banana in hand it means if its close enough to pick up, then do so

1 Banana

Banana in hand
GT towards opponent or standing throw
if they trip:
-follow up with anything
if they shield it:
-grab, boosted grab, pivot grab, diddy hump
if they side step it:
-pivot grab
-usmash/dacus :)
-read and punish
if they jump over it:
-aerial
-up tilt/smash
-peanut
Dribble back (w/o picking up the naner)
if they follow you:
-they get tripped
anything else, pick naner up and go to "Banana in hand"
Mindgames
-peanut cancel
-hold shield
-diddy hump
-GT up/down
Attempt a single naner lock lol
etc...

Opponent between you and your naner
Go for the naner
if they go for it too, just punish them or get another naner out
if they start to camp you, retreat and get a naner out

Banana behind you (not close enough for standing pickup)
Run over and instant throw it at opponent
if they don't see it coming you can follow up with anything
if they shield, aerial them
Pick it up with dash attack

Naner in the air or on platform
instant throw it at opponent
catch with aerial
z catch
Mindgames
instant throw it at the ground and land behind it
z catch then drop it or instant drop it

2 Bananas

One in hand, one near you
GT towards opponent or standing throw
if they trip:
-double naner lock -> finisher
if they shield:
- throw the other naner at them then smash them (they will either get pushed back or hit)

One in hand, one behind you
GT banana at opponent and glide towards the other one
you now have a double naner lock opportunity if they trip

One in hand, and opponent between you and the other

One in hand, one in the air or on platform

Both naners behind you
Go over and grab one
-stand behind the other one
-GT up and grab the other one
-dribble

One behind you and opponent between you and the other

One behind you and one in the air or on platform

Opponent between you and both your naners

Opponent between you and one naner and one in the air or on platform

Both naners in the air or on platforms

I'll probably write more later, but feel free to write even obvious ones cuz i might forget em!

also, tell me any formatting concerns or if i word anything confusingly

Nice work mate.

You should consider OoS options as well. Since the banana is a good way to bait and punish using your shield.

A shield punisher set up of thingie is when you short hop throw a banana at their shield and land on where your 2nd banana is and glidetoss that one as well so if they let go of their shield they get tripped or their shield lowers for dash attack stuff.

Or you can short hop throw to instant throw if you have a banana on a platform.

These threads aren't necessary. I'm sure a diddy player would know how to combo by now. Besides, go to TP4!!!!!!!!!!!! you live in SEATTLE!!!

:\

You do realize a LOT of new players are wanting to learn Diddy now that he's been doing so well in tournaments, right? And that's a LOT of players who could use this help. Heck, I could use this advice myself, and anyone would be ignorant to say they couldn't use any more themselves.

These threads are necessary, especially if you want a dying board to ever remain active (I don't think ANYONE posted yesterday at all).
