LOL, that was the epic fail.
EDIT:
And that was the last time I tried to make a joke on the internet
Aww, don't. That was funny. Kruton's reaction just made it hilarious XD
Anyway... I posted this on another forum:
Fact 1: Melee had 26 characters. 6 Of them were clones. Adding Shiek in the notation we had 19(20) original characters. Brawl has MORE THAN DOUBLE the development time, not to mention it's easier to develop for the Wii, so a double of that original roster (even a little slightly more) is not impossible.
Fact 2: As stated, it's easier to develop for the Wii.
Fact 3: Some things were carried over from Melee. Hal provided many tools for this. Sakurai did say characters were built from the ground up, but looking closely, it does look like they at least recycled some animations. Who knows what else they carried over, but they are saving some time there.
Fact 4: They have more staff now too, that is obvious.
Fact 5: All characters in the Dojo are more than probably starters. The only possible exceptions are Sonic and Snake, plus the un-announced third party. It depends, if Sakurai changed his mind and made them starters or not, but they were probably shown for publicity. All of those people that said Sonic was going to probably be the last character revealed were wrong, and I betted against them from the start. It's just wouldn't have been a smart comercial move to keep him hidden until the very end.
Fact 5.5/Slight Prediction: Now lets count. There are 22 characters revealed. Factor in the PKMN Trainer and Zamus and we have 20(23) characters in the Dojo. That is already approximating The Melee number, so it could go way over that. We still have to see some veterans and there are probably more newcomers.
Prediction 1: There will more than probably be more unlockables than Melee. That's a no-brainer.
Prediciton 2: Unlockables (sans the possibility of third parties) will probably begin to be revealed on the japanese release date. ***Maybe even not until the american one, but since we'll know the full roster (unofficially) by then at least.
