The 2nd Super Wavedash for Samus called "Grapple Dash" a curious tech I found in 06' - 2nd superwavedash using the Grapple Beam

At the time no one had discovered the technique (which only works on Yoshí's Island and hyrule temple), and since the thread died as well as my old "PkSamus" account, I decided to put this as my first post. Dynadash helped me with the footage, after I posted the steps to do it here.
1 Grapple the corner of the block or wall on hyrule temple.
2 Press B when you hit the ground
3 Insted of grappling back to the spot Samus will slide across the floor.
Man, I remember the times without youtube...

I think what you are describing happens when you clip through the fire transformation
