I've been doing a little thinking, and I'd wager we're guaranteed a new trailer at the Tokyo Game Show. TGS begins on the 20th of September, which is just under 8 weeks from now.
If we think about which characters from melee have a reasonable chance of returning in Brawl, we've got Luigi, Peach, C.Falcon, Ganondorf, Ness, Ice Climbers, Jigglypuff and Marth. A total of 8 characters.
Also, so far, the characters that have had www.smashbros.com updates are likely to be available from the start, whereas Meta Knight and Snake are likely to be unlockable, and have not had updates yet.
We've been getting one character update regularly for the past few weeks, now, and if this continues, by the time TGS comes round, they're going to run out of characters to update.
Just a thought.
