I have a huge problem tensing up my hands while playing. I've been playing for about six months and my tech skill and execution is pretty good in practice (although the problem is present there too to some degree), but when playing real games I lose to people I feel I shouldn't due to constant flubs as a result of the death grip on my controller. I can ease up by consciously telling myself to relax and the issues go away, but the tension comes back within seconds after I move my thoughts back to the game. I don't think it's an issue of tournament nerves, because it happens both in tournament and friendlies, and to a small degree in practice as I said. I'm not sure what to do at this point because it hasn't gotten any better after four months since I first identified it as a problem, despite thinking about trying to stay relaxed as much as I can. I wanted to ask if anyone has experienced a similar problem and how you dealt/deal with it.
